True,The war on Free press is a problem in America at the moment. Let's hope the country has a true democracy where the vast majority not only votes but find it incredibly easy to do so.

Amazing that My Lai is under reported. Nothing to do with Gov controlling the media and the school curriculum of cause..War crimes right there.
We no longer have press. We have bought and payed for partisan channels for both parties. Pick one and enjoy your personal kind of propaganda regardless of party. Just like how your convinced from across an ocean that its not easy to vote here.
how is it that twenty news channels all repeat, verbatim, the exact same script word for word in many cases.Especially those “ key” phrases we all know and love. Only one way, entirely scripted

A lot of money has gone into programming this type of 'both sides/media bias' narrative.Screen Shot 2022-07-13 at 7.39.16 AM.pngScreen Shot 2022-07-13 at 7.39.33 AM.png

Even the president told the story. Guess what turns out thats a completely fabricated story too…..anything to trigger and divide

So you are in effect saying that 10 year old girls don't get raped and pregnant. You are attempting to justify a both sides are the same argument by citing a supposedly false story that appeared in the news. So because the story might be false, then no child is raped and impregnated and therefore there is no problem with the law?

You said the story was completely fabricated, that is misleading, it was not confirmed, it was not proven to be fabricated.

"An abortion by a 10-year-old is pretty rare. The Columbus Dispatch reported that in 2020, 52 people under the age of 15 received an abortion in Ohio".

"The Bottom Line
This is a very difficult story to check. Bernard is on the record, but obtaining documents or other confirmation is all but impossible without details that would identify the locality where the rape occurred".

Making the leap to say that it is a 'completely fabricated story' is the type of brainwashed bullshit I would suggest being careful of. And I would question any source that told you it was if they were as certain as you are acting like it is. Especially with something dealing with a medical procedure of a child.

“This isn’t some imagined horror. It is already happening. Just last week, it was reported that a 10-year-old girl was a rape victim — 10 years old — and she was forced to have to travel out of state to Indiana to seek to terminate the pregnancy and maybe save her life.”
— President Biden, remarks during signing of executive order on abortion access, July 8

This is the account of a one-source story that quickly went viral around the world — and into the talking points of the president.
The Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade, which had guaranteed a right to abortion, has led a number of states to quickly impose new laws to restrict or limit abortions. Ohio was one of the first, imposing a ban on abortions after six weeks of pregnancy, with no exceptions for rape and incest.

On July 1, the Indianapolis Star, also known as the IndyStar, published an article, written by the newspaper’s medical writer, about how women seeking abortions had begun traveling from Ohio to Indiana, where less restrictive abortion laws were still in place. “Patients head to Indiana for abortion services as other states restrict care,” the article was headlined.

That was a benign headline. But it was the anecdotal beginning that caught the attention of other news organizations. The article said that three days after the June 24 court ruling, an Indianapolis obstetrician-gynecologist, Caitlan Bernard, who performs abortions, received a call from “a child abuse doctor” in Ohio who had a 10-year-old patient who was six weeks and three days pregnant. Unable to obtain an abortion in Ohio, “the girl soon was on her way to Indiana to Bernard’s care,” the Star reported.

The only source cited for the anecdote was Bernard. She’s on the record, but there is no indication that the newspaper made other attempts to confirm her account. The story’s lead reporter, Shari Rudavsky, did not respond to a query asking whether additional sourcing was obtained. A Gannett spokeswoman provided a comment from Bro Krift, the newspaper’s executive editor: “The facts and sourcing about people crossing state lines into Indiana, including the 10-year-old girl, for abortions are clear. We have no additional comment at this time.”

The story quickly caught fire, becoming a headline in newspapers around the world. News organizations increasingly “aggregate” — or repackage — reporting from elsewhere if it appears of interest to readers. So Bernard remained the only source — and other news organizations did not follow up to confirm her account.
  • The Daily Mail, July 1: “Child abuse victim, 10, who was six weeks pregnant is forced to travel from Ohio to Indiana for an abortion after home state outlaws it under Roe v Wade ruling.”
  • The Guardian, July 3: “10-year-old rape victim forced to travel from Ohio to Indiana for abortion.”
  • The Jerusalem Post, July 3: “10-year-old rape victim denied abortion in Ohio”
  • Bangladesh Weekly, July 3: “US: 10-year-old Ohio girl denied abortion after abortion ruling”
On CNN’s Sunday interview show on July 3, South Dakota Gov. Kristi L. Noem was pressed about the story. Noem, a Republican who opposes abortion rights, said the story was “tragic” and the focus should be on the rapist. “As much as we can talk about what we can do for that little girl, I think we also need to be addressing those sick individuals that do this to our children,” she said.

Under Ohio law, a physician, as a mandated reporter under Ohio Revised Code 2151.421, would be required to report any case of known or suspected physical, sexual or emotional abuse or neglect of a child to their local child welfare or law enforcement agency. So Bernard’s colleague would have had to make such a report to law enforcement at the same time he or she contacted Bernard. Presumably then a criminal case would have been opened.

Bernard declined to identify to the Fact Checker her colleague or the city where the child was located. “Thank you for reaching out. I’m sorry, but I don’t have any information to share,” she said in an email.

Dan Tierney, press secretary for Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine (R), said the governor’s office was unaware of any specific case but he said under the state’s decentralized system, records would be held at a local level. Thus, he said, it would be hard to confirm a report without knowing the local jurisdiction to narrow the search. He added: “The rape of a ten-year-old certainly would be newsworthy.”

As a spot check, we contacted child services agencies in some of Ohio’s most populous cities, including Cleveland, Columbus, Cincinnati, Dayton and Toledo. None of the officials we reached were aware of such a case in their areas.

DeWine, asked Wednesday about the report, called it a tragedy and said the doctor in question presumably reported it to law enforcement. “We have out there, obviously, a rapist,” he told reporters. “We have someone who is dangerous and we have someone who should be picked up and locked up forever.”

An abortion by a 10-year-old is pretty rare. The Columbus Dispatch reported that in 2020, 52 people under the age of 15 received an abortion in Ohio.

This is a very difficult story to check. Bernard is on the record, but obtaining documents or other confirmation is all but impossible without details that would identify the locality where the rape occurred.

With news reports around the globe and now a presidential imprimatur, however, the story has acquired the status of a “fact” no matter its provenance. If a rapist is ever charged, the fact finally would have more solid grounding.

Its not hard to verify. VA has laws that force drs to report such things, none. The childs identity does not have to be revealed. Why hasnt the supposed monster who did it not been revealed?

The bottom line is we don't know if the story was true or false, the author did not use standard journalistic practices of confirming with more than one source. It was not a political story, but an anecdote and many republicans would love to doxx her if they could and have her charged with murder, so one can understand the reluctance to identify people. Even the people who sent her on the trip, if true, would be accessories to murder.

Not to worry though, there will be plenty of raped and pregnant children in red states with no recourse, we will be reading multiple sourced stories about those, I can assure you, sworn testimony too. If she was pregnant, then dad would be the most likely suspect and that means poverty when he goes to prison with everybody in town knowing.

Well I would have to say that killing truth has consequences. Doesn't matter anymore if your narrative is based in fact. The previous dude spread such obvious lies continously that it just sorts made it a moot point.

I dont care if the people putting bleach up their butt to protest not being able shoot up the ping pong game run out of hunter bidens laptop that connects to Hillary Clinton's server call out the dems for not telling the truth. It's the homeless drunk dude yelling at the college kids that they are alcoholics.

And why do you think that is? Maybe because these authors and journalists are really neither. I know if i don’t follow standard practices at my job i wont have one

And this is somehow evidence that there is some 'leftist' agenda controlling media in the way that right wing propagandist organizations like Sinclair Broadcasting does when they force their nationwide media to manufacture narratives to help the Regressives in the Republican party to maintain enough power to keep the taxes low for the wealthiest in our nation?

My honest reply is that mistakes happen, the question of journalistic integrity is how you handle a mistake. CNN getting a story wrong is different than the epoch times spewing made up bullshit constantly. There is a push to try and bring all legitimate news organizations down to the same level as the national enquirer. You don't get to hold the places to different standards. Either we all get to spew made up shit all the time or we all have to tell the truth or make a best effort. That second one got shot in the dick, so here we are.

funny how you had to throw red state in lol i live in on of the bluest states in the country. Have a relative thats a prison guard at the local state prison. He said the majority of the inmates are rippers. In prison thats a child molester. Go ahead and change the narrative that its all white trumpers in prison. Lol

In Ohio, this example is under the exception. So the story is bogus either way you want to look at it, ad there was no need to seek care out of state. The larger issue is of course to sew seeds of division, and it seems to be working well.

It is only the red states that have these stupid abortion laws, child molesters live everywhere and rapes and pregnancies of children happen everywhere. It's just that civilized places know how to deal with the aftermath and take steps to eliminate or reduce it, red states with stupid laws and bigoted people just make it worse.

This particular story might be true or it might not, but I can assure you there will be plenty of other stories of child pregnancies and deaths in red states because religious fanatics and fascists gained power in their states. Those stories will be verified with photos and court cases, it is a certainty.

I wouldn't celebrate the fact that the republicans just broke the American legal system, yet another institution of democracy destroyed by the right. Think any blue state will extradite a women for murder to a red state over an abortion or miscarriage? They will tell the SCOTUS to go fuck themselves if they rule to enforce an extradition, the legal system has been broken by fanatics who broke precedent and violated basic human rights, much less constitutional ones. Some of them even lied to or mislead congress to obtain their appointments and one has committed impeachable offenses and his wife is a criminal insurrectionist who was involved in J6.

I imagine state republicans are working hard to close that "loop hole" and I'm sure if they win in November it will be on the legislative agenda. Unfortunately many states passing these idiotic laws don't have exceptions for anything, Islam has far more liberal abortion laws then they do. Check it out, it's true, they are further ahead socially than Texas, the Taliban are more liberal.
