What is the best way to get rid of gnats ? I think I mite have a problem a caring one of my plants started get yellow spots on the leafs I’ve checked for mite with a scope and all under the leafs are clear about 4 days ago I found a little fly crawling on the soil I tried to kill it and I’m not sure if I did as it’s was on the soil wen I went to kill it and just disappeared since then I’ve not see anything and I’ve looked constantly but today I found one again the same kind of fly from what I’ve read about them they love wet soil I did have 3 plants that I’d overwatered since day one my mistake I’m a beginner, they had wet soil so I decided they mite be the problem because of the soil being so wet so I got rid of them and kept the two that are not overwatered one of the two I kept is the one that damaged so I just want some opinions to what’s the best decision to make do I just get rid of all plants and clean the tent out and start fresh or is there something I can do to prevent the bugs getting worse? I’ve bought some sticky pads and I’m going to use them in the mean time but like I’ve said I’ve seen two in 5 days so I’m not sure if it a massive deal thanks for all replies

Move fans closer to soil and increase speed. Their shit flyers and can't mate in high wind.
Scratch a little cinnamon into the soil it a repellant they hate it and will leave
Put a layer of fine gravel or chrushed shells on top of your soil they'll mutilate and kill themselves when they try and fly out of the soil. I have seen all three of these tactics work individually and can easily be stacked on each other none of them will have any effect on your plant except you might have to water slightly more frequently

Try some gnatrol along with the sticky traps. Couple of weeks of that and you should be in the clear.
I picked up a small bag on ebay.
With the Gnatrol do you mix as recommended and just water the root zone with it?
I’m running DWC and a little nervous about it being in the rez :(

I have only used it in soil... No idea if it is something you should put in your res.

Garden pumice 1/8 screened, spread a nice layer on top. They can't crawl through it to do their nasty business. That combined with sticky traps.
Don't let them spread they will seriously fuck up your plants. They burrow into the soil and then their larvae eat your roots. I had a bad infestation a couple of years ago. I soaked them with mosquito bits tea, spread D.E. soaked them with gnatrol covered the soil with sticky traps. Finally saw a video about the garden pumice. That was what worked for me.

Gnatrol looks like Bentonite clay treated with BTi, (99.4% inert ingredient- unknown)
Probably don't want it in a res, use Bmc MicrobeLift, much higher concentration.
