AK47 first indoor grow

Growinman, your posts and comments are welcome, if you have all those strains in beans your good to go, if you have females of them I think you can harvest and shock it into going hermie and get some beans that way, that is if you want to preserve the original strains. You have a really sweet setup, I had scoped them before but didn't put your name together. I found and posted on your grow, I'll be watching. As far as tips, I would say keep a close eye on PH, the aks like it acidy and I don't have to tell you about the smell.

Sunday night could have been a disaster, I usually gas the room with propane for a few hours and cut the exhaust, well Sunday night I fell asleep and the room temp was 97 the next morning, the plant that hasn't shown sex suffered the most, could be the reason it hasn't shown it's sex yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed. I passed 2 of the bagseed seedlings into the flower room because they were too big for the bubbler and all the smaller plants in the tubs are stretching for light.

Good news, the hold out is a female . Of the 3 smaller ak seedlings, I wacked one last night that showed its nads and I suspect another of being male, I should know for sure tomorrow. Hopefully the remaining one will be female. The mothers to be continue doing well and the bagseed plants in the bubbler are ok too, tomorrow I'll be passing a couple of those to the flower room since they're getting too tall for the bubbler.

Yeah, one cola and 1 top bud so far, the smoke is better than what I have available at the moment.

Other than a mishap of a ventilator fan shearing off a branch of the larger ak47 mother to be and falling asleep yet again with the propane torch on all night, (the temp hit 95 this time), the plant that was heat damaged is taking a long time to flower but it will survive. I did a rapid cloning of the broken branch from the mom to be and got 2 clones from the tragedy. I put the 2 largest aks in the back of the tub and I put 1 of the second wave of aks in between the two, this one hasn't shown sex yet but I suspect it's female. In the tub in the front are all the bagseed plants and 3 ak clones which for sure at least 1 is a female and hopefully 2.

Looking GREAT!! I love how your keeping your mothers!--> I always have something going in the same HD buckets('cept I used regular duct tape and 5" net pot); usually a retired mom that I decide to put in 12/12. You can grow trees like that very cheaply!--------but not if you keep falling asleep with that torch burning........haha..lol

Yeah, I should have roots any day on my AK's-----real excited to run those!!

LOL, that's a perfect summary of the problem at hand. I acquired a thermostat to kick in the exhaust when the temps rise, I'm going to install it when the girls wake up in a few. The plants closest to the oscillating fan get heat damaged. I can't wait to see your aks get going and dude you have me thinking of the SS strain as an alternate smoke to have variety without compromise. Let's see how this bagseed smoke plays out. Of the 2 bagseed plants I threw outside, one of them just grew those lovely hairs, I'm thinking that the seeds became feminized due to a hermie, should know soon enough, the friend that gave me the beans found out that they are White Widow, her source wanted to buy the beans back from her but aahh the power of free ak every so often is too great. If this little tidbit is true, I can make some White Russian, time will tell......

Of the 4 clones that I had originally taken from the original seedlings, I have only 1 female to show for, there is still one of those clones there but everything is pointing to it being male. Everything else is going semi smooth, I've been starving the biggest females while the smaller plants catch up, but yesterday I had to up the nutes when I noticed some deficiencies on the biggest girl. I was feeding them 1000ppm and upped it to 1350ppm, they're drinking lots of water too. The 2 clones I took the previous Saturday were doing good til today when I found their cubes dry and the leaves drooping, I'm going to put the lid back on the propagator while I'm at work, a little longer and they would have died. I also installed a thermostat as previously mentioned to cycle the exhausting fan when the temps hit 93 while I'm gassing with my primitive co2 generator, so far it's been working out great. It cuts the fan in at 93 and off at 89 and while exhausting the co2 ppm drops to about 900, the levels are fluctuating between 1800 and 900 ppm.

1- Group picture, the girl in the middle is really stretching for light, the biggest girl is really fattening up and the other is starting to put on the flowers as well.
2- The top cola on the biggest girl, I have 2 inches of height to play with.
3- the smallest of the the only female in the second batch of ak seeds I germed, she's stretching for that light big time.
4- the 2 clones from the fan mishap, 10 days old and no roots as of yet, it doesn't look like the tiny leaves on the plain stalk is going to make it, that branch may have to go soon..

I haven't completely wacked it, I've been taking a bud at a time and drying it just under the filter of my central air for a couple of days and straight to the pipe without curing, it smokes good, tastes good and does the job but not like it should be, still better than what's available around these parts.

I'm using foxfarm grow big and big bloom and open sesame, the big girl is wanting more, I should have given her the tiger bloom already, I think she wants more potassium and she's showing bit of a mg deficiency as well. I added a little epsom salt and open sesame to the reservoir cause I haven't bought the beastie bloomz or cha ching which is due on week 8. I'll probably buy the latter nutes this PM and flush and redo the nutes if I don't see improvement on the top leaves, it's funny but the deficiencies started showing up on the fan leaves midway on the big girl and on the top I'm getting a little minor yellowing and drying at the tips. I'll be honest with you, I like the growth rates of the plants in hydro but it takes a lot of work to keep an ideal environment going. I can't neglect the ph for a single day or they'll suffer. In my outdoor I would tend to them once a week and that was fine. I stayed home from work today Mr. B, I'm going to go check out your girls, hope you've got some new pics up and listen if you don't hear from me anymore it's because this mod fdd2blk banned me for not putting up with his bs, he's a moody mofo and I'm an ole stubborn, hard headed sob and that's not a good combination. OK B off to check your girls.

Some more of the bagseed have shown sex and they're female, so out of a total of 8 plants 5 are female and 3 are unknown so far, I hope at least 1 turns out male but the odds don't look good. I have 1 male ak clone under the 2 biggest aks and I'd like to cross it with a branch of the bagseed outside plant and breed it with it's own kind on another branch. I added some supplemental (4) 23w cfls to the smaller plants yesterday and they liked it. I had the 2 105w cfls on the 2 mothers but cut it down to 1 for now, I'm setting up a new ebb n flow veg tray for the upcoming cloning of the ak moms, after taking clone from 1 of these I'm going to reveg and put it to flower and I'm considering bringing over 1 of the bagseed plants that hasn't shown sex yet.

She was starting to get a deficiency, I added the necessary nutrients and was fine for a couple of days but the ppms went over 2000 and I noticed some yellowing on the edges of the leaves so I flushed and gave her the correct amounts of what she needed and she's doing great. I'll do an update tomorrow. The tubs I have are getting over grown and there isn't enough light, I added 4 23w cfls for now but I'm seriously considering adding a 600 watter and another tub so they can all sun bathe comfortably.

Here is a little picture update, not much to report other than that the biggest ak is getting real fat as well as the other 2 behind her are starting to fill out. The bagseed ladies are getting so big that I had to topple one of them and 2 other bagseed girls are nearing the max height for my set up. The tips of the leaves on the aks are burning a little and the bigger fan leaves are yellowing and dropping off. In the veg area, aparts from the 2 future moms, I have an ak clone in a new ebb n flow veg tub and I have 2 bagseed clones that I took due to mishaps while tending to the ladies.

Those just keep getting bigger and bigger! I just got a batch into 12/12 myself the other day---it'll be my first run of Serious's AK and it's looking like I ended up with a couple of great pheno's to run....let's hope...
