these are the roots of the plant that gave me 7 + ounces of dried manicured buds:

Tangled roots are fine, the more roots, the more plant!

It is OK for them to tangle with the tubes too.

I have cut 2/3 of the roots off of a female plant, to completely remove the male plant on seven grows, and the female continued to thrive and not slow down.

Haven't you ever bought a tray of flowers or plants at the nursery, or a pot with 3 or 4 plants in it, and separated the plants out, by tearing the roots apart? Didn't they continue to thrive?

No worries. You cant worry about something like that. had to be done for proper flush. The plant is going to get chopped soon anyway so why not try.

time for my weekly update. its been 7 weeks of flowering and flush time has come for Brandi lynn (the left plant.) Had to seperate the roots and transplant her to another contain as Grace kelly ( the right one) is not ready just yet. The yield is looking to be good but only time will tell on her weight. Im hoping GK beefs up over the next few weeks. She has been about 2-3 weeks behind BL. Re did the lst to hold up the weight of the colas and keep them straight. Found a hydo store about and hour away so I no longer have t obuy most of my stuff online.

For my next grow I picked up some mylar and I am in the process of designing my next grow. Looking to buy a longer tube to accomadate 6 plants. I also have a few tricks up my sleeve for keeping them in order :) anywho here are some pics

Yeah had to do it purp. Glad I did in just 24 hours the plant that wasnt doing so hot and so under developed is doing a 100 times better now. The color has darkend up and there biggining to streach out. I must have been correct with the assumption that it wasnt getting the nutes it needed do to the other plant sucking it up. the pistols are about 30-40% red now on the flushing plant. Ill probably chop it next weekend.

wow paranoid.... looks like things are turning out great for you. you definitely got some good advice about the starting of flushing. you will have plenty of time to "ripen" your bud during the flushing phase. as you probably remember from my journal, one of my girls was flushing for like 3 or 4 weeks in plain water and she was perfectly content drinking plain water. but it at about 3 1/2 weeks, she suddenly showed signs of dying from lack of nutes. nice work 'noid.

thanks NS! I cant believe harvest is almost here. It doesnt seem to take as long as one would think. Im oing to beef up my lighting on the next grow. I also picked up some mylar instead of using foil wrap. Since I dont know the offical strain of this bud Im going to call it P420 hydro. cant wait for the cured product! even though thats like 6 weeks away :(

I was looking at the trichs today and about 40% of them are amber and about 60% of the pistols have turned orange. Been flushing for a week now and im wondering if I should put her in the dark for the next 36 hours then chop on sat? or should i let it go longer?

I didnt let mine sit for 36 hrs...but try it and let us know the outcome..Cant hurt

Thanks purp and jigs +rep. Im going to test myself and go a little longer. If its still breathing and it looks as of today as if the trichs are really coming out and she is swelling up since the other day. One more week wouldnt hurt anything. Dont know why i need to go 36hrs dark it just feels right to me to give her a little time before I chop her down like a proud papa. Im hoping to get an O from her dried. It's going to be tight but I think I got it there. The second plant is doing great starting to get it's crystals and fattening up and believed it or not started to streach again. Amazing results in the last week from being alone in the tub. So I guess if someone ever asks " will one plant hurt the other in the same system" to me I can say yes, one plant took up all the nutes and left the other to be slower and hungry. Its getting all it wants now and im going to try and push her another 4 weeks.

I guess someone did research into when the plant produces the most trichomes, and apparently it is in the middle of the night, so that's why people do the 24, 36 or more hours of darkness before harvest... so that hopefully the trichs will be their fullest.

Plus I think like you... it's just a good time to do it. Our little girls have been busting their ass under some intense lighting and some futurisitc hydro systems... they least we could do is harvest them in the most humane way possible... in their sleep.

And another thing about waiting... it makes the smoke that much sweeter having waited that little bit longer.

:peace:

Sounds logicol...you making the plant strive its hardest for resin production, getting the MOST from the plant..ill try it at the end of this grow

Photo update 8 weeks flowering.

jigfresh,
why don't ya join the BubbleHead Gang?

I do appreciated the offer. However I have 2 reasons. All the gangs I grew up with 'jumped you in'... and I don't want to get beat up.

I also don't do well in structured groups. I always just get in a fight... and I don't want to fight with you guys. bongsmilie

Sorry if I temporarily jacked your thread paranoid.

No problem Jigs. I was going to toss her into darkness today but fought of the urge till monday( if I feel there ready). I feel I can get them a little bigger over the weekend since the last few days they have been swelling a bit. harvest will without a doubt be next week though.

Well The day has come to harvest! I put 1 plant in the dark on sat and took her out this morning and cut her up! The other plant still has some time to go with the light so she is all alone now. Trimming only took me about 2 hours. Now I wait while she hangs and drys. the wet weight was pretty good I figure dry about 1.5oz. here are some pixs of the process. I will still be doing updates and photos of the 1 still growing.

Cheers
