The 150 watter is amazing. I was first going to get a 400 watter but I was reading about the heat issues then I was looking at the 250 watter but I decided since Im only going to do is 3 plants tops I wouldn't need it, so I got the 150w. Super lightweight and pretty small so its easy to move around. Got it for $90 at my local hydro store and I am probably going to buy another one. It runs super cool, in fact it runs cooler than all those cfl's I was using. You have to be just about touching the bulb in order to feel the heat it puts off. As far as distance from the plants to the light, I was reading that 10 inches is a good distance but my tallest bud sites are 6 inches away right now and I haven't had a single problem with burn from the light or anything like that. My grow room is a fairly big walk in closet so I have yet to have a problem with it getting too hot and right now the temps are perfect (I don't have a thermometer though). I don't live in a high humidity area either so that is one of the least of my worries. During the summer months I think I may pick up a portable a/c unit. We shall see.
