What happens to intercepted seeds?

Im curious if anyone knows what happens when seeds are stopped in customs and flagged as contraband?
I live in the US and I know its punishable by law but do the cops actually come to your house with a warrant or do the seeds just get confiscated?
Im too paranoid at this point to use a credit card to buy seeds but paying cash is risky and takes quite a bit longer. not to mention that registered mail with insurance is 12.50.

Has anyone had this happen? Confiscated and not contacted? Or on the flip has anyone had them confiscated and got a call from the feds?

Yes, this has happened to me before. The only thing that happens is the customs take the seeds and most likely incinerate them. After that they send a letter to you saying that your item seized by the US Customs service and that you will no longer be recieving that item. No sweat, just order from a different company and hope for the best.

as others have already mentioned, it seems to be just a green taped letter, with a message saying 'bad boy, no seeds for you!'
there have been very rare follow ups, never been able to find a case where a warrant was issued for seeds
for the paranoid, the way to go is order seeds 1st, then do your grow
that ought to put your risk as close to zero as you can get, seeds as a charged offense does not seem likely

Just have it sent to your house addressed with a name that doesn't live there. Can't prove anything if it gets intercepted. Or a friend's house with a wrong name if ur really paranoid.

You'll be o.k. Since idenity theft have risen and continue to climb, using your credit or debit card will allow you to use such an excuse! in addition, you can always cancel the order thru the card. But like everyone else said, don't panic.

Yeah its not a panic:o situation. I got my seeds. I paid cash for them and it took a little longer but it was before I had grow equipment or anything to incriminate me.
I was more or less curious how it was handled between customs and local law enforcement for next time when I use my debit card.
:leaf: Im more concerned about my post lady seeing overseas packages and soil and such being delivered:leaf:
Thanks for the helpful responses:clap: Hope everyone got the rep i sent

I sent out cash from the USA to Nirvana seeds. I sent it out regular mail and it cost me less than $3 . It only took two weeks and one day exactly for me to receive my package. If you dont want to use your credit card you can always use a prepaid one. Check first with the company your buying from, some will not take money orders, or they have to be international money orders. Good luck to you!:bigjoint:

hey guys my package was recently intercepted and i just(today) got a letter stating that they want me to give them authorization to open my package, if they don't get a response they will hand it back to Canada post for disposal.

What should i do?

Well Im certainly no expert but I would say that giving permission would be like incriminating yourself. I would rather them incinerate the seeds than get myself in trouble. You can always buy more seeds.
Maybe someone else that reads this will have some better advice for you.
Good Luck on your situation.

Ive always used my cc along with my real name and have yet to have any problems, the real key is just finding a seedbank that is completely trustworthy and you're comfortable with. If you are unlucky and do recieve the customs letter then just cut your losses and try again when your able, but dont ever contact customs and incriminate yourself over some seeds, its just not worth it.
