Indoor Sativa Growing Myths?

My next grow I want to be Sativa, I'm sick of the couchlock stupor budz.

Some friends are urging me not to go pure sativa because it's:

1. Impossible to grow correctly / efficiently indoors.
2. Yield is paltry compared to Indica harvests.
3. Sativa always grows tall so I'll run out of space.
4. Takes a really long time to veg/flower/harvest.

I grow for personal use only, so I don't care as much about the yield (4 plants should get me a few ounces/3-4 months right?). I care about the quality and about a really light heady cerebral buzz with lots of energy 8-)

I also don't mind working with a "difficult" plant as I love to learn hands-on about plant problems and try new things with them - topping, lst, hydro, scrog, etc.

But, I don't want to be screwed on a grow because I tried a strain that is for professional outdoor growers or something. I was thinking a Kali Mist or something?

What do you think?

1. true for pure sativas, so grow sativa-leaning hybrids
2. definitely false, sativas grow faster and yield more
3. true, they will stretch and be lanky, but you can control it
4. true for pure sativa, so grow hybrids

most sativa-leaning hybrids that I've grown mature in 9-10 weeks, about 7-10 days longer than the indica-leaning hybrids.

A fave is Skunk #1, and that is a heritage strain, it has been used in many of the hybrids today. Or Haze is a good one, but the original isn't as good as crosses of it. I have a Skunk x Haze that is a really nice plant. Or any of the White Widow crosses.

HTH

2. IME yields has more to do with genetics than species.
I flower my Sats at 10-12" they usually finish at about 3 feet which works perfect for my cabinet.

You sound like me i grow for myself also but people beg me for it anyways ill try anything once ive planted seed in dog shit once with dirt over top it got about 6 inches then died ofcourse were talkin pitbull shit so its pretty potent lol

LOL. Nothing wrong with experimentation I guess. We have to always know how to grow better dope.

What are some good techniques to control stretchiness and "lankiness" of sativas indoors?

i always like the sound of haze,it sounds like the stone i would like,is it as hard to clone as i have heard?

Grow from rooted clones only with lots of light.

Controlling height - Bush Master. This product will stop ALL vertical growth after using. In hydro you add it to your rez for one day then replace rez with fresh nute solution and no bush master. good product.

You can also top your plants, and low stress train them.

better to use low stress training...once it get about three inches are so start tieing the branches down to spread them out

hello, I am growing sativa indors in a closet, and I have problemes because their are about 15 cm , very long and they lean over...It just pissess me off...what should I do?

W/out photos its hard to tell, but it sounds like your light is too high and they are stretching and thereby not able to support themselves which is what happens when the light is too high.

Always seemed that when doing sativas indoors, some kind of support was needed to stop them from tipping over...but then again, when the are almost 5-6 foot tall in a 1.5 gal pot (i know, wtf!), they get top heavy.
