Thanks. Yeah it's a lot of work even for a small grow, but it's a lot of fun. Fresh air, sun, and good exercise. I'd really like to get an indoor grow going to, but I don't have the room. Got this 250w hps sitting hear begging to be plugged in.

Took a walk back this afternoon mainly to check up on my new transplants and figured I'd take some pics since it's been a few weeks. For the most part, everything is look great, except I was hoping to see a bit more growth from the Low Girl than I did. The older plants are doing good, but I feel like they are a bit leggy. Not sure why exactly considering all except for one (my new favorite) look mostly indica. I know I don't have the best spots in the world, but they are getting a good 5-6 hours of direct sunlight a day at least. The stems are nice and thick, so for now I'm not really worried about them breaking or toppling over. When I was out there, there were some strong wind gusts and they all seemed to be handling it well. The one, marked "new favorite" is probably close to 2' feet already. I'm not sure of the genetics since the big plants are from the outdoor mix, but that seems to be the most sativa-like out of the group.

Hey NeL if you're still checking in, how much do you think having such small holes is going to affect me in the end? They are probably more deeper than wide since I figured the roots would propagate down rather than out, but since learned that might not be the case.

Looking good sonar! I was wondering about the 5-6 hrs of direct sun is that cool? Just asking because I'm looking for a good place to drop some of my seedlings.

I think 5-6 hours is "average." I've read a lot of different grow guides and books, but they are very inconsistent. One guide says a minimum of 3 hours with 5 hours being optimum. Others say a minimum of 5 hours with 8 or more being optimum, so I don't know. Ideally, I'd like to have them in an open field with direct light from surise to sunset, but where I'm at that would almost be impossible. For me, it's been a catch 22. I found spots with lots of light, but little stealth. On the other hand, I found spots that were really stealthy, but didn't have much light. I guess you can say I ended up decided on plots somewhere in between. Average stealth with average light.

Bigger the holes the bigger the plants. Doesn't take much more effort to dig them down. I dig about 30-35 gallon holes and put in 25 gallons of soil a piece. I do roughly a 2x2 by 3 deep. Some wider than others.

Oh and putting a dead fish in the bottom of the hole is begging for a fucking animal tyo come tear your shit up. I've heard of this before and whether it works or not I would never do it. There are a 1000 thing I would put in my holes, hehe, before a dead fish

Damn 30-35 gallon. The first few I dug were back breaking. As I was digging I'm thinking "what the hell did I get myself into." But got a new shovel and with a bit more practice they weren't as bad. I really underestimated how much soil it would take to fill them though. You can see a couple holes with the older plants aren't even 100% full. Didn't really have the time or money to buy more and lug it out. For the next round I was able to dig a little deeper and fill them up, but I'd still say they are only about 5-10 gallons at the most.
Looking back on it, I should have sprung for a bale or two of promix. I couldn't find it at first, but after I had the first round of planting, I found a place selling bales for like $25. It seemed expensive to me for 3.8 cu ft, but what I didn't realize was for one, how much better it was, and two, the 3.8 cu ft is the compressed volume. It's like 7 cu ft once you break it out. So I ended up spending probably about $40-50 on shitty MG soil and a bag of a local brand, when I could have spent $25 on a bale of promix and got just as much if not more out of it. Glad I was able to get at least 2 nice plants in a little bit bigger holes with some sunshine mix.

Yep Guerilla growing is BackBreaking for sure, it certainly ain't easy.
Best thing about messing up is that you learn from it. I can see this season being a good learning year for you. Once you get this grow under your belt you'll be that much more prepared for next year. Oh and you'll know how much work it is going in to it.

Seems like a lot of people are finding preflowers on their outdoor plants already. Since it's been a few days and I didn't really check last time I decided to take a walk out this afternoon. Oldest plants are about 6 weeks old and they aren't from feminized seeds, so I thought I might be albe to see some preflower on mine by now. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to see any yet. I was surprised how much they grew in the past couple days though. It's amazing what a few sunny days will do.

Yes it is. All of mine are clones and already have pre-flowers, I started the seed in Jan.

To be honest, I'm having a hell of a time picking them out. Think I'm going to need some sort of magnification. My best plant is probably over 2 feet tall and probably about 8-9 nodes, so they gotta be there. I have a gut feeling it is a male though. Next time I go out, I'm going to take some pictures. Hopefully, they will be clear enough for me to post and get some feedback if I can't determine it on my own by then. Since the big plant has branching that is about 5-6 inches, I was actually thinking about trying to clip one of the lower ones and try to clone it directly to 12/12. But then again, it would probably take at least 2-3 weeks to show sex if it survives, so by then I'm thinking the mother (or father) might be showing sex anyway. Although it might be worth it to do it anyway just for the practice in cloning.
Picked up some Ortho Ecosense 3 in 1 rose and flower care bug spray today and sprayed them down while I was there. There was minor leaf damage, so it was a good call. Also the soil FINALLY dried up enough for me to get a good feeding in.
Stopped to check out the Low Girl auto and she is definitely showing sex and is looking awesome. Doesn't seem like a popular strain, but I thought I'd take a chance on it. I was hoping to maybe pull an ounce off of her, but after reading a few indoor low girl threads, thought I might be aiming a little high. Don't want to count my chickens before they are hatched, but if everything continues to go well, an ounce might be achievable.
New pics probably this weekend.
Oh I forgot to mention the Buddha White Dwarf. Like I said, I was going to hold off and save it for an indoor, but I heard so many good things about it I couldn't wait. Figure the only real point of autos are for an early outdoor harvest, but that is just my opinion. It popped up out of the soil about 10 days ago. Somehow when it was trying to knock the seed cover off, it pinched one of the round cotyledon seed leafs and killed it. Hasn't really grown much since. Think maybe that might have stunted its growth a little as it is much smaller than the other plants I started this year at the same age. Will post a pic tomorrow.

Here is a pic of the Buddha White Dwarf at about 10 days. Not too much to look at...seems a little small to me. When I planted it, I only wanted to give it two weeks inside, which would be this weekend, but I'd hate to take it out when it's this small. Thinking I'll give it another week.

Some times I have to change the light cycle to get pre-flower but most of the time they show. No big deal. I watched a grow here last season of some Durban Poison that didn't show till september.

Went out this afternoon to check on my smaller plants and feed the bigger ones. Wanted to take new pics, but I let my brother borrow my camera for the weekend. Out of my 4 oldest plants, I'm about 90% sure 2 of them are showing female pre-flowers. The other older, sativa looking plant still isn't showing any, but I have a feeling it is going to be a male. The other older one I didn't even check because it is there by itself (the other one at that site got dug up shortly after planting) and is in a bad spot with little sun. So, of the 3 I checked, they are all pushing 3 feet tall and have stems about as thick as a Sharpie marker. Think this weekend makes them 7 weeks old. The other 4, two NL, Purple, and Low Girl are looking good too.
