yah, i had heard that japan was strict on weed as didn't the beatles have problems there back in the 60's or 70's??
but christ, .01 grams is pretty ridic no doubt.. the good news is that i've been arrested right here in these united states of america for .04 grams... granted, i didn't get 5 years for it though..

Yea beatles got busted in Japan 2 times and had to cancel both times cause they got caught at the airport and were deported.......probley thier fame is only thing kept em out of jail........I dont know that for a fact but make sence to me.
In the 70's I was on a big white needle of death sponsored by our uncle, on one trip we pulled into Ocho Rios Jamacia and had great fun at Dunns river fallls. As evening approached we hit the bars - at one point in the journey I ended up driving a POS renta car & got pulled over by the jamacian police. I got out trying to act semi-sober (I had a little over 1/2 lb of lambs bread stuffed into my pants from a buy at the last bar).
Cop: Where you going?
Me: I'm trying to get back to my ship.
In the mean time his partner is questioning the car full of partying sailors.
Cops Partner: aoiseoljd oishrdgkl shoedkgt (well, thats what it sounded like !)
Cop: Are you trying to find a bar?
Me: Well, yeah - but just for these bunch of drunks, I'm trying to get to my ship.
Cop: Then follow me, I'll take you to my brother in-laws bar.
Which he did & we still partied until dawn - - - I made it home with out getting arrested.
And managed to score again that night for a bit over 2 lbs - getting home was cool !

i'm sure that there are still bars around that you could get away with things like this, but i would think the number is getting smaller by the day...
i really wish i was a lil older in the 70's, and more so for the 60's, but i wasn't even a twinkle in me daddy's eye back then..
what fuck's me up is i would have thought that when all the younger crowd from the 60s grew up and got into power, our drug laws really would have become more relaxed, but in fact they have really gone the opposite way.. i don't really understand wtf happened there, but it sure sounds like an opportunity missed by us.. seems like the religious right is taking us back to the covered wagon days with some of this nonsense..

just dont be smoking it out in kowloon in the public where all the cops are. But tbh the police are pretty stupid as hell when it comes to cannabis. I do miss the states so much where I have my med card.

According to Abu Dhabi based newspaper The National, the DJ, identified only as 30-year-old A.Y., was charged with consuming drugs after a tip off was given to Dubai Police’s anti-narcotics department.
When police arrested the man in March no drugs were found on him, but traces of the narcotics were found in his blood.
The disc jockey denied the charges, saying that the last time he had smoked the drug was in December while he was in Britain. But prosecutors said that test results showed he consumed the drug whilst in the UAE.
He has two weeks to appeal the sentence, the paper said.
In 2008, British DJ Grooverider was sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of smuggling cannabis into the country.
The 40-year-old disc jockey, whose real name is Raymond Bingham, was detained at Dubai airport in November 2008 as he arrived to perform a gig, after he was found in possession of 2.16 grammes (0.076 ounces) of marijuana.
He denied smuggling, claiming that he had forgotten the drugs were in his trouser pocket.
However, he was released after serving 10 months in prison after a special pardon from the Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashed al-Maktoum.
The UAE imposes strict penalties for all drug-related offences. Four years is the usual sentence for possession, which presence of drugs in the bloodstream is considered to prove, while trafficking carries the death penalty.
Some prescription and over the counter drugs in Britain are also considered to be controlled substances in the UAE.
According to the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), Britons are proportionally more likely to be arrested in the UAE than any other country in the world. Since January 2010, 125 British nationals are believed to have been arrested there.
A spokesman said that between April 2008 and March 2009, a total of 48 Britons were arrested in the UAE for drugs related offences, but they believed such arrests were becoming less frequent.
THE FCO advises that expatriates and tourists are careful to respect local laws and customs while in the UAE.
