after you cut the clone on a 45 degree angle and before u put them in the cloning gel do you have to split the bottom of the root down the middle with the razor? or just stick it in the gel and plant?
 
Don't split it, it's not needed. Just expose a little of the inner tissue below the node and then plant. What are you using? Rockwool, rapid rooters, soil??? Put some of that gel down into the hole where the stem will go to make sure the stem is coated thoroughly.
 
how damp do u keep he cubes as i use rapid rooters and how oftem do i spray the dome. I ty to keep it really warm in the dome is that wrong
 
yes, afterwards i do make a tiny cut in the bottom of the stem, as I place them one by one in water. Then I dip for 30 seconds, put into soil & then press soil from sides firmly around it (sort of like pinching the soil around it) for good contact. 100% success

ill be using rockwell cubes they will certainly dry out in the hot box no? i water the hot box a couple times a day? how does that work? im using like a plastic box a cake comes in it has grooves in bottom i could put water
 
the bottom is the best place to take clones from, faster rooting and less energy/time taken from the plant you cut it from.

is it true to make the split in the bottom of the stem up to a node?
i heard it makes it easier to grow cause the split is where an old node was?
hopefully you understand what i mean

mate i think most times when they put a slit/cut up the middle of the stem is for aeroponic systems


just do a 45 degree cut if your planting in rockwool rapid rooters or soil
 
no need to make a split, your just peeling the outer layer 'skin' up to an inch or all the way to the first node, this is also unnecessary however it does seem to help.
 
The split helps start two individual roots plus it exposes more surface area to the cloning agent. Deprave, talking about a controversial subject here. I have had better results cutting from the top. Remember to flush a day before cutting.
 
Yes, I only scrap the outer layer of skin off with the razor up about a half inch or so. I believe it helps because this area is always covered in roots first. Also, cloning from the bottom roots faster because these nodes have less nutrients, mainly nitrogen than those taken higher up. Good luck to you!
 
I agree that cuts can be taken anywhere from the plant. Simply stop feeding it nitrogen for a few days first... That's why most formulas come in 2 and 3 parts, so you can custom mix for situations like this. I took 30 cuttings recently from one mother. They came from top, bottom, and middle. I'm using an EZC... on day 4... EVERY stem is showing sign of root growth. Therefore I cannot buy into the theory that bottom cuts are better.
