i got two 1000w going and it only raises my 12X12 room temps like 4 degrees... proper venting and air circulation... u dont have hotspots.

I simply just dont care, 400w in a concrete house is undetectable! Maybe in america in your wooden houses but not here. Most of the house needs to emit a heat signature for the police to suspect a marijuana grow and venting large amounts of heat externally will make them twice as obvious.
A 400w light is like nothing, people say a helicopter can pick this up but no way in hell dude. My hot water system gets hotter and vents externally but i dont have the police knocking on my door!lololol! Seriously small grows are undetectable, now a few 1000w lights in one room might just spark their attention and add this to the 600w lights next door for the veg room and seedlings, well now thats a heat signature they might be intrested in.

During the day there is even less chance of detection due to obvious reasons like the sun heats the land and buildings more than the night so use lights during day not night if you are seriously that worried. Peace and dont believe the hype, my dad use to fly with infa red cameras on his plane and they also had helicopters equipped with them and no way 400w is detectable unless its like in a flimsy wooden shed in your garden and still they got better things to do.

There are a lot of common electrical devices that use more than 400W and put out more heat. Portable heaters, even an AC unit, water heaters, sun lamps, tanning beds, stoves and ovens, etc. etc.
Unless you have your 400W light sitting on the window sill, infrared is unlikely to locate it.

At full bore? Possibly. When I overclocked my CPU 50% and crunched pi overnight it heated my bedroom up 10 degrees.

Actually no they cannot see a 400watt light burning on ir scans.your roof is too hot during the summer to see through it.....(your attic is hotter than your house) now in winter time then yes they can get a heat signature but its faint and it can be chaulked up to having your heater turned up high.now if you have multiple lights then they can detect even in the summer.In winter you can actually put a duct from your heater in the attic (if your house is tiny) and it would blind an ir spotter enough but i wouldnt chance it.Id rather cool my lights and not have to worry bout it but seeing that its summer im not the least bit worried bout my lights.now this is for closet growing so dont confuse me.If your growing in a spare bedroom then you are likely to be detected.and like mentioned before they have to have a warrant before they can even try(but when has the law ever cared boout that?)* i love Facts, thanks for correcting my false notions

I was clearly speaking in terms if he was venting out the side of his house.
My best advice to anyone is using ceramic tiles on as much surface space as you can...they will absorb and dissapate heat up to several hundred degrees and can be cheap....especially if you already have them on your house...cooling with your AC will help but the best method is to disapate that heat as much as possible....its how the gov hides its stealth planes from IR missles

Even if you ented the heat from 400w straight outside it would still not equal the heat vented from a heating and hot water system, still the pigs would not care or notice. Peace

i'm uk too, and we get flybys too, the infared cameras are only for big grows that stand out, if u have a light under 600w its hard for them to distinguish between ordinary household items, kettles radiators, underfloor heating etc etc but multiple big heat sources are what they are after, its household factories that are being hunted and stopped as their more likely linked to big crime.
