I put them on a saucer with two little squares of papertowel that were slightly moist, put a bit of plastic wrap over it and let it chill in a dark place.

I prefer a dark place as light destroys roots and the tap root is delicate but ive germinated in a lit room b4 so hell either way works.

Rep sucks, only being nice counts. Some like it, i feel it can stigmatise people, the site is what you make it.
As for germinating i never liked the paper towel method, dosent really work for me, jiffy cubes seem to be more forgiving and sucssesful. Ive had best results just planting straight to soil. Peace

So, I've been germing with wet papertowels on a saucer with some plastic wrap over top. Is there an easier way? I saw someone put it in a shotglass with mineral water but I don't feel like paying for mineral water to germ. I'm not selling, it's just for me so cost needs to kinda stay down for me.

your method of germing works just fine.. of course, there are more than one way to skin a cat, so some others will do it different ways sometimes.. but if it aint broke, don't fix it is what i've always been told..

Racerboy is right lots of different methods. Who says seeds dont sprout in soil! Thats nature dude. Keep the soil moist and thats it all done. The paper towel works for some just i see jiffy cubes as easier all round. All the seedling needs is to be in contact with moisture and it sprouts. peace
