Led Growing Is The Way Of The Future My Friends

wow theres alot of goofs that hate wayyy tooo much on here , seriously what ever works for you works for you , dont jump into other peoples constructive conversations and start fucking shit up ..... people are trying to spread information around here not hate you fuck ups i used to use hps but guess what i saw some very big advantages for myself to use leds ...... so i did and im fucking happy as a pig in shit no more a/c units no more big power bills stuff like that. dosent mean i hate hps growers or think that they hve to switch to led's or any shit like that what ever works best for you is what you should use , leave the hating to the government and the pigs.

People still fighting on this thread over this? Different strokes for different folks guys, how about no digs from either side to the other? Should solve the problem ;)

And lets face it,we all know as LED gets closer to HPS in $$$ per true watt that there won't be any HPS users left...and I was a HPS purist until recently.

day 72 and the girls they were vegged i cut down might have been a day or too early but the trichlomes were looking nice so i cut em down and theere drying now. all thats left is the 12/12 from seed girls and they are looking very nice maybe another week or two for them and they will be good to go too

i like where your headed with this man when are ya gonna grab your first panel..... turn to the dark side if you will lol. if you do think your interested look at black stars for value or spectra for something alittle nicer but with a bit more on the price tag too.

You see my big problem with buying panels is I don't think they'd "outperform" my 600w HPS,maybe match it in the properly "locked in" setup I have going...but I'm really trying hard to justify fixing something that isn't broken ;)

If I need/want to change up my setup tho it'll be lots of LED watts! Might wait for affordable 5w chipset panels...with what you guys can do with 1-3w chips,I'd imagine the 5w ones will be the first nail in the coffin of HIDs.

I predict alot of LED/Sulphur-Plasma combos coming up in the future tho...that's a match made in heaven, full daylight spectrum from the Sulphur Plasma with massive Red/Blue PAR peaks from the LEDs too...thatll be the FINAL nail in the coffin ;)

EDIT: If I see any inaccurate posts on this thread I'll still attack them tho, lol, don't like bad info!

Even if a 600w LED panel was the same price as a 600w HPS I still would choose the HID HPS way before the panel, even if the panel was $50 bucks cheaper, I would use it as a t5 replacement before thinking about replacing my HPS for Bloom. LEDs simply do not have the Ooomph to penetrate & have such a large light imprint.

I just like growing weed. Who cares what is used to grow it? You wanna know what the best light is? Better than LED, better than HPS, better than CFL, better than all 3 combined, and it is also the cheapest too.

The sun.

EDIT: For Rawbudski:

I thought that a few months ago too,but the LED technology is definitely evolving alot faster than people's attitudes to it ;)

These are the only two problems with investing in LED right now...1. The price is still inflated (but dropping rapidly) for people for whom HID is an option (ie. in cold climates) and 2. The panels are advancing so fast they're being outperformed only a couple of months after you buy it.

But from what Iv seen, current LED tech can dance (true) watt for watt with HID...so viable yet (still a tad) expensive I'd definitely call them now.

And I really mean no offense here, but if you said no to a true 600w LED that was offered for cheaper than a 600w HPS you'd be a straight idiot...no offense again, just it's the only word that would describe a person in that situation. I'm sorry but a 600w LED will match a 600w HPS in yield with only 25% of the heat and there is anecdotal evidence that there is an observable difference in quality with LED due to a wider colour spectrum (red and blue at once) and higher UV.

Not ragging on you man,but you need to get up to date on this tech before judging it,I'm sure someone here would kindly quote me from about 15 pages back before I actually looked into current LED grows...my attitude has changed immensely!

Hope this helps and happy growing bro :)

Everything changes and is upgraded. HIDs are better atm however it wont be 5 years and i think LEDs will start becoming cheaper and better than HIDs. Only a matter of time.

But by then all the people buying expensive leds will be buying expensive Oleds or plasma bulbs ;)

yep you may be right about the other technologies coming forth but as far as time frame i believe the market will open up people will start realizing the advantages much sooner if current led companies do a good job of letting the masses know of there product, imo i think it will be two years at the most before led's are a big player in the indoor growing world.

a friend of mine has also just taken the plunge from hps to led he is doing quite a big setup as well 15 lights or so ..... fuck i wish i could convince him to post a journal but hes american and paranoid .... not sayin you all are but your government is fucking you all up. anyway just thought i would post about it cause he has been growing for 10+ years and is a stuborn son of a bitch haha but he say some very big advantages and did his homework and got some good panels and he is happy as shit. just an example that times are a changin. :)

Boy i sure hope so, plenty of people cant run HID due to heat but if we had cheaper LEDs they would benefit everyone.

Not many people are mature enough to say that openly, its funny why too its not like theres any difference light is light. Use what ya like, me personally i used to be a hps user in nevada of all places, terrible out there bill was out of control for just a 400 and what i needed to cool the room. Back in cali now and i decided to give hps the finger this time and try something new, I know led's work excellent for veg you CANNOT dispute this whatsoever, so i said if it doesnt work it becomes my mother room light no big deal and i popped for a 240w blackstar panel. It says 240w because it has 80 3w chips in it they are driven at 50% power so it draws 120w from the socket. With that light ALONE one a 2x3 hydro ebb and flow table i have pulled down 6 ounces, that was the first run with it. Since then ive managed to get it up to 8 ounces. Now you tell me that LED's dont work, ill laugh and continue about my business. HPS and MH work great i love the results i had with them. But unless im somewhere ass cold with a HUGE space to light, LED's make more sense to me. In california i keep ambient temperatures in my cab running my lights all day so as long as i keep my room cool my cab stays cool with a computer fan. I'd like to see you do that with HPS. My yields havent really decreased i noticed a slightly smaller size in bud with an increase in density. I scrog all my plants, I also run Kessil LED's in a different cab as well and i am even more impressed with them than i was with the blackstar, the offer such modularity its ridiculous i can pretty much pinpoint all my nugs with a direct beam of blasting LED light with great results. I've noticed more trich production as well over using just HPS alone for flower I would say equal or slightly greater than the combo of MH and HPS for flower. LED produces more UV so more potency in your buds because UV increases trichome production.

These are all facts, i will tell you that older panels were complete shit and didnt work worth a damn, its whats given LED's such a bad rep. Yea they are still pricey but if your in it as a business they do nothing but help you make more $. My meters not spinning like a childs top and i bet i got just as much goin as the next guy.

I dont know if you've ever heard but you gotta spend money to make money, nothins free in life. LED's have come a long way if your interested in them do your research and be careful what you buy as there is still a lot of bullshit out there as well as a lot of stuff that can be WAY overpriced and had for way less if you look hard.

Keep growin everyone, keep it friendly this whole led argument is like hps vs the sun just pointless theres advantages to everything as well as disadvantages

2 years huh?? who makes this stuff up?? Sorry in two years LEDs will not be a "big" player in the grow industry...... I mean its a nice thought but not really correct......sorry
