So I just want to get some peoples input on my DWC system I made.

I used:
2- 5 Gallon buckets
2- 5 Gallon Lids
2- 6" plastic pots. Which i drilled holes in.
1- 12-93 gallon air pump.(45-352L)
2- 4" inch air stones.
and smooth river rocks (cant afford the shipping of Hydroton.. and no hydro store near)

i spent about 30 dollars on the whole system

I would just like people to say if it need work and if so what I can do to fix it or make it better...
or if you think its ready to grow some plants.:hump:

I really in joy feedback... Helps me make sure I do things right if I did it wrong in the first place.

I will not be using this system for a few months so I have plenty of time for improvements .:peace:

I would add a resivoir bucket, for many reasons

1-5 gallon bucket w/ lid
4- waterfarm gromets
4- 1/2 Barbeb connectors
1/2 tubing

I think having a res. bucket makes allot of things easier and improves system functionality. It gives you the ability to drain your water without disturbing your roots. Provides additional water. Allows for recircing, I do it manually, daily, w/ same pump i use to drain w/. Thoose are a few benefits I can think of off the top of my head.

get the hydroton don't use rocks other than that your good

Everywhere I look for hydroton shipping is like 20+ dollars. And ive read river rocks work and same with lava rocks

Can you explain how to put it together?
maybe a picture so i get an idea what your talking about? please (:

Use a 13/16" spade bit and drill a hole about 1 1/4" up from the bottom outside of the bucket of the bucket, you want to be sure the grommet has enough room to seal, don't get the hole to close to the bottom. Clean any burs from the hole has to be smooth so the grommet will seal. Insert the grommet. the 1/2 barbed connector slides into the grommet, its a tight fit, but has to be to seal. repeat for each bucket, will have 2 hole in resivoir bucket, one connection for each plant bucket.

connect w/ 1/2" tubing the lengths that suit you.

Thanks man I really appreciate it..
At first I thought the DWC and other hydro looked hard as hell. but after getting it all set up seems a lot cheaper
and some what easier to handle than soil

I run a. DWC, and urs looks fine! Will grow good plants, click my link for pics, u cold. Drop seeds in there now, but u MUST get the hydroton, who cares. About the 20. Shipping, ur gonna get better plants from it, I promise, u said u had months, well put a dollar. A day. Away!

Agreed, you don't have to use a res. bucket, i just prefer it that way. maybe use your cash to get the hydroton this grow and upgrade the sysyem later, hydroton is needed.

Well Ill see what I can do, Like I said I have a few months. so Ill just work at it slowly, but Im glad a few people said it looks good except the rocks :P

a whole bag only cost me 95 cents so I didnt care too much. :P

I'd say get at least 10 liters.. that way you don't have to pay the shipping charges next crop. I bought a huge ass bag and it's lasted for a few grows..

Hydroton is reusable, just rinse it really good w/ peroxide solution or boil it.

It never looses its "hold shit in place" ability, lol

Thank you all. I'll look on eBay for a good price for hydroton

And I'll get more holes in the pots :)

I was thinking itl need more
