i had a few of them, eventually made it to ~6" so i gave them away... starting making far too big of a mess, and eating Everything.

Those don't look all mbuna to me man.. Isn't that big one a peacock? Painting the back of the tank is about a 20 minute job and very easy dude.. Just use a roller and put on multiple coats..

and 20 minute job, if the tank is empty... i need to empty my tank. and move it away from the wall, and since its on leveling blocks, i need to almost Completely empty the tank, its more along the lines of a 3-4hr job

its cheaper at the store, and they cut it to size. im shure theres other places cheaper, but its all beter then the hassle+permanant-ness of painting..

You aren't supposed to mix haps and mbunas, just alone for the fact that mbunas are herbivores and haps are omnivores. if your mbunas are eating high protien food that you should be feeding the hap they will get Malawi Bloat.

its called new life spectrum dude, if you dont use it for cichlids, LOOK IT UP!

as for mixing haps and mbunas' what a myth!... mixing malawis and victorian's or malawis and tanganyikan, then yeah... thats a bad idea.

these fish i have, co exist naturally... and as a result of having haps in my tank, my offspring are for the most part dealt with! (ever tried to deal with 300 cichlid fry a month? what a pain in the ass!)

mbunas need spirulina , haps need protien. If you are feeding a food with enough protien for the hap, then the mbunas are getting too much protein and will get the bloat. Get it?

If you were feeding the mbunas a correct balanced diet then the haps aren't going to be getting what they need...

As far as food, I feed my mbunas spirulina flakes, Hikari Gold pellets, Yellow Squash, Zuccini Squash and Romaine Lettuce.

Here's a NEWSFLASH You fucking aquarium is not Lake Malawi.... They are not naturally co-existing.. However I suppose if you fed a herbivore diet to the mbunas and the haps ate that AND the only high meaty protien they are getting in the mbuna fry then they might be doing ok..

Otherwise, you should go research a little bit before you call me a know it all douche, because I do know wtf I'm talking about. You don't feed mbunas high protein.
