I'd strip the branches on the entire bottom half of the plants. Any branch that isn't getting any direct light should be taken off. Any leaves that are not getting any light should go. Don't remove leaves that are getting light.

LOL thanks SFguy I've been a bit busy at home. The cockatiel, our old gentleman, attained the ripe old age of 27 and developed squamous cell cancer on his foot. So the vet removed it and I'm having to provide the nursing care. He felt so sick the first day he just wanted to be left alone. Now he's starting to feel a bit better and he's getting very grumpy and cantankerous. Worse the cockatoo has decided his mission in life is to rid the universe of the 'tiel. Twice today I found him either standing on or holding the 'tiel when I just turned my head for a second. it was fascinating watching him try to lie about his intentions toward the old guy.

Anyway so my grow has taken a real backseat for this week. I'd changed the reservoir and moved the lights upward but other than that I haven't really done any of the work I should have. I DID get a chance to buy some Sunshine Mix and I did get 1 rooted clone into it and watered but that's it for the moment.

Thank you! He's doing much better. He went to the veterinarian yesterday and his foot is healing well. He probably won't need grafting. However I did love the vet telling me, after removing the bandage, to put Silver Sulfadiazine cream on it and then keep him from stepping in his own poop, sigh..... Realistically this is impossible so I put a teeny tiny bandage on just the very insole of his foot, maybe 1/4", and will now have to change that every day or two. The tumor was on what would be the palm of his hand. So every time he stretches or moves he can easily tear it open. Since 'tiels have a total blood volume of something like 7 cc (1 1/2 tsp), every drop of blood is precious and therefore the loss has to be avoided.

Looks like the grow is going to continue to be back burnered for another week.

However the plants don't seem to mind. This is the end of the second week since they were flipped to 12/12. They have stretched just shy of one foot in one week it seems. They are drinking almost 2 gallons/day from the reservoir! They look good and smell the same. You can also see these small white 'pompoms' developing at the branch tips! So it appears we are flowering.

The clone I transplanted to Sunshine Mix #4 doesn't look any better or worse so far. After transplanting from the home made cloner to the pot I watered with 25% seedling strength nutrients. I also left the clone under the T5 lights and had hoped by now to have a second air cooled hood but the 'tiels vet bill was my new light. So the clone stays under the T5. Hopefully it won't die.

Anyway thanks for dropping by. I'll see if I can get some pictures up today to show my clones and the girls in flower.
 
.... they do like to give surprising amounts of stretch when you hit them with the 12 cycle.... they reach for the sky!!!!!!!!!! :D

Yes they are very dramatically shooting skyward. Here's what they look like just after the HPS turned off and here is my homemade cloner. I have way more than 12 immature at this point but only 3 of them have roots. I plan to get rid of the extras once I have healthy rooted stock but until then I'm hesitant to throw the 'extras' out. It would be just my luck to find that one of these 4 was exceptional and that would be the one I had zero genetic material.

Wow that was an interesting time travel experience! Ok here's where we are.

The first picture are the new Cali Connection Pre-98 Bubba Kush BX2 seedlings. They went into the Sunshine Mix #4 on 2/28. They are monsters compared to the AI. Is that me learning or their genetics? Speaking of which I am praying for no hermie although I must admit seeded but would not really bug me.

The next is the entire clone/seedling tray, the cloner is now completely empty. Everyone is in Sunshine Mix #4 preparing for the brutal summer. I am going to hold these until I can pick the best 4 as mothers then put the mothers on the back porch for the summer. I'll then flower out the rest as best I can and shut down the tent until weather begins to cool in the fall.

Last but not least are the Nirvana Aurora Indica on their 40th day of flowering. The seventh week begins Monday! The trichomes all appear mostly cloudy now and the pistils are browning and drawing back. I am really hoping the colas will put on weight. What do you use to add weight to the cola's in a sterile Hydro system?

Oh yes and the reason that the largest Bubba has a burned tip is from touching the T5's!
 
Lol, Annie ... i was about to suggest that the Bubbas are showing the beginnings of nute burn. But on looking closer (and having finally seen your last sentence) I see that each plant has only one burnt tip. They're looking very very nice.

As for colas and weight, just light and time ... and the plants will give what they will. I'm liking how they're looking. cn
 
Ok here's the Clone tray under a 250 Watt Metal Halide and the seedling tray under the T5's. I've also included the Aurora Indica's who are finishing their 7th week of flowering and drinking 4 gallons (1 gallon/plant)/day! They are also dropping the PPM levels by 200/day so if we assume uptake is even that is 50 ppm/day/plant! This is amazing.

The last image has me wondering if that's a nanner popping up, so I left it uncompressed and highlighted my area of concern?

Hey Annie, same thing happens to me around week 7 as well. nothing really happens. i usually just scrub my room down before the next run

Thank you kamie. I was worried. I had read about nanners and foxtailing so now I'm seeing nanners and foxtailing everywhere I look.
 
Hey Annie and HUsband! Came to check out your journal after your post on my search for a perfect strain for my insomnia! What a great grow! Especially your main 4 plants at the end! The Colos look superb!
 
I had a few yellow leaves in my buds, which always made me do a double take, but this is what you want to look out for.

And here are a couple to answer your pre-timewarp questions. The ebb and flow is made from 2 storage containers found at Walmart, roughly 3 and 7 gallon capacity, and just a standard aquarium water pump and airpump/stone, set on a 15 min incriment timer, which floods the top tray for 15 min every hour. The 'mini-DWC' are just widemouth Ball mason jars with a small airstone stuffed through a hole in the side of my net pots.As for mom plants, I haven't been able to get myself on a concrete enough schedule to keep one just yet, but when I do, it will be keep in soil, under CFL or fluoro lights (T8's). I will feed it a standard veg nute regimen throughout.

Yes those 4 Aurora Indicas that are finishing have taught me an awful lot. Then there's so much more to learn.

Hey! thanks. I'm pretty unhappy with the yellowing of the leaves. I pumped up the nitrogen and they greened up. I also had to add quite a bit of Magnesium to stop the rusty brown spots (thanks go to Collective Gardener, Dan Kone and Cannabineer for those solutions). Seems to me if I'm paying good money for a three part solution that should pretty well cover what this 'weed' needs instead of adding more single item nutrients.

I'm seriously considering moving to a different nutrient line. I've been eyeing Dyna Gro and wondering if that might be better. But I'm open to any suggestions. Frankly if I'm having to mix 5 different nutrients to get a whole food for the girls I might as well start mixing my own nutrients from scratch. So I'm going to try another company during the next batch (I have a whole platter of AI babies waiting for the big light. These are multiple copies of clones so I have duplicate genetics I'm thinking of running one clone with GH nutrients and the other clone with Dyna Gro and seeing the results.

Like I have nothing else to do with my time.. ha!! Hey Watch are you starting another grow soon? Will you be doing AI again or moving to something else?

I'm a little worried about the CH because both it and the SD sprouted at the same time, the SD is almost 3 times as big. We shall see, if anything I know AI will keep me happy.

You know I think some strains of cannabis are simply faster growers than others. My Pre-98 Bubba is simply incredible. It's many times larger than my Aurora's were at the same age. So maybe some just grow quicker than others. I'm also really surprised how short the internode lengths are on the Bubba. Plus not all my AI's grew at the same rate. There was interesting variation among the phenotypes. I had one, AI #5, that grew twice as fast as the others. I had trouble with my canopy because of her shading everyone else. So finally I cut her in 1/2 to equal the canopy out. LOL This is interesting stuff.
