So I started my first grow. I am growing 3 plants from bag seed first to get some experience. They are 4 weeks along and 1 week ahead of the 3 good strains. tonight I looked up the penalty for a first offense for growing 5+ plants and it is 12-17 years in prison. I am f'n freaking out. I am about to burn it all tonight, for real. Someone please tell me if this is the actual penalty I would get for a first offense and whether it is the same for less than 5 plants. If there is any real jail time the grow is coming down. I have too much to lose.

If there is no evidence of growing for distribution, they usually just take the plants and slap you with a possession charge.
I have seen this multiple times.
Assuming these are federal punishments. The feds are not going to come to your place over 3 plants, I can guarantee you that.
and even if it is state, unless you are loud-mouthing to everyone. nobody will ever notice 3 plants.

What about the state punishment. That is what I am looking at for Kansas. Give me the Worst case scenario. I am going to destroy the 3 bag seed plants right now. By the time I read the next reply I will only have the 3 good strain plants left. I will decide their fate after a good nights sleep and a little more research.

like i said before. if its for personal use, and it will be more of a slap on the wrist.
the laws are really in place to prevent distribution. which is why there are also harsh penalties on transportation.
dont worry about it. I have been growing well more than 6 plants, and although medically. I have never had a visit from any cops.
i have hit well over 30 plants.
and i grow in an apartment complex.

Bottom line don't get caught in Kansas, if you're growing 6 plants have the odor under control, no scales in the house, pay your bills on time keep your house looking neat, mow the yard and don't have people coming and going all the time don't worry. That said I know of 2 people who have been busted in Kansas one with 200+ plants one with 15, one in Jo Co the other in Sedgwick, I'm far far away from that god forsaken state!!!
So 3 plants are now gone. It wasn't easy. These were my little babies and I had to tear them up and put them down the disposal. Not cool. I don't think it's paranoia. I don't feel like I'm going to get caught, but I am also not willing to risk destroying my life. I have 2 kids and a successful business and had I known I could get serious prison time I would have never started this. im pretty sure the other 3 are coming down tomorrow.

my jaw dropped. Do what you want I guess... but the cops and the feds aren't going after a guy who quietly grows 6 plants at a time. I grow 6 plants at a time. I've never been worried. It's when you have a big operation that you have to worry. If you don't want it around your kids... that's a good reason. If you're afraid of the cops... yes that is paranoia.

You must not know a lot of cops. If they have nothing better to do they will most definitely try to bust someone for 6 plants.

my cousin is a cop... I told him once that I grow six plants at a time. he laughed at me and said don't worry. If you have one growing on your front step, and a cop drives by, you might get in trouble. If you are growing 6 plants, very quietly, the police aren't going to go out of there way to hassle you. I suppose it all depends on where you live. If your in a city, the cops have a lot more interesting things to do. If your in the country, a cop finding six plants might be a big bust.

Exactly. #1 rule is don't tell anyone. 90% of the times people get busted it's because they couldn't keep their mouth shut. Other 10% is a nosy neighbor

don't worry we all have paranoia when we grow. we get over it as time goes on and grow more. I was was paranoid as fuck my first grow. no joke..

as long as you don't tell anyone and your kids can't find it also lock the door to the grow so they can't try to say your kids had acess to the weed and your good like they said its just possesion I live in a harsh state to its 7+ years for growing but some guy got busted growing and got possesion he did go to jail but not very long I also know of someone who got caught with 99 plants and 30k guy only got a year but I'm sure probation up the ass but he could have ratted I don't know I know a guy got caught with a meth lab got just probation for years but I know hes a rat. but if you only grow less then 6 and claim personal medical use your good just say it helps with your pain no judge will give you a fellony
