Construction workers of RIU tell us what you do

.........people wouldn't be living very comfortable without us "blue-collar" workers. This is a cool thread and it's great to see people take pride in their work.

I am a 25yr+ floorlayer and I 've been around most of the trades. None are easy, if your fast and good<----not a lot of those any more.
I have tendinitus, arthritus, my shoulders are shot, not to mention my knees........and I am 45........ I got out of the floorlaying to 'rehab' houses and did a bit of everything(and I bet the roof I did leaks...). That lasted a year and now I am back on my knees again.
I have grown for myself for a few years(7?) and a friend..... and I 've been very successful with compensating for the pains with that.... and I have a great hobbie that I tend to each day and probobly more so than I ever did my kids........... I built my
'room' from the ground up(12x16), wired 50amps from my main, and even plumbed it------did it all from my readings on here and IC and OG.... It's quite the dream set-up for a soil grower and the 'rooms' I 've seen on here. And nobodies ever been in there but me........so I am probobly making all of this up(fantasy?)hahaha........but the people I 've taken my ideas from would be proud--that's for sure........your all right here too....

Keep up the good work, the labor, and always be proud!

Hey all. I just read back and realized theres some serious talent in this thread:mrgreen: As for myself I guess some of what I do could be called construction. This past week I installed an aluminum deck that I fabbd' at the shop I work in. It was about 45'x35' oblong 16'o.c out of 2x6x1/4.. There was so much welding to be done on it that I ended up with a welders tan after about day 2, but I used a MIG spool gun so it went pretty quickly. Most of the time when i fabricate I use the TIG dynasty because its so much cleaner of a weld, and who wants to see a weld break? maybe its just me:joint:. What my real passion is though is blacksmithing. I do a fair bit o' it where I work, ya know stuff like sculptures, furniture, gates, rails, decks of course and the range goes from bronze, copper, stainless, alum and steel.. some machining work depending on what kinda crazy assd' project get put onto and you bet your bottom dollar I do it all "on the weeds"

im a carpentor............like god, no just kidding but if its made out of wood i can do it.
