so do you tie down every couple stems or just the main stem. Does anyone have a pic of this. just curious as to which way would give you best results. I understand the concept, just wondering how many stems should be tied down.

I tied down every branch on this sativa and the main stem....the lower and middle buds are just as big as the top buds....5 weeks budding

do you cut a slit in the top of you pot and just tie them to the pot??

From what I know is you start the LST when they are young .and train them as they grow ..

Yeah you def should start them young. The first time around i ended up doing late into flowering. I was still a noob and had no clue that the stems in Weed plants were hollow! No clue, they were as bendy as a 20 year old stick on the side of the hwy. SNAP! it did heal itself but lengthened the flowering period due to shock. What i ended up doing was LST the branches to the sides of the container. I was able to gradually get the stalks to have buds pointing down at the ground. A few days time they had curled all the way around and went from 270 degrees to 90. The buds really thickened and tops are heady like now.

what type of string did you use? anything special or should i just grab something at the hardware store? maybe theres something that is easy to work with?

I used yarn, real soft. It will break before the stems will and its also not firm like nylon and wont cut into the stems. You dont want them getting sick . Then i just used duct tape to tape it to the lip of its container

Well, i started noticing that the side of the buds facing interior to the cola were being shaded by the other buds and were only thick on the side where light was constant. So i reasearched LST. I started around the 1st week of flowering, its not tech. a true lst. My idea my next grow, which is starting real soon so stay in touch, is to do a true lst which means starting from veg growth i will mold it into a shape that will allow for the most amt. of light. The way i did it now assures that all buds already developing will grow to full maturity.

If you have ever seen spiraling ficus' or evergreens you will be able to understand lst better. If you make slight, gradual bends around a pattern. For instance i will be shaping clothes hangers into a progressive upward spiral. When the plant starts to grow i will gradually shape it along the hangers and tie it SOFTLY to the hanger. What will happen is side shoots and branches will fight horizontal growth, L - R, and pull of the stem towards the light, kinda turning buds into tiny colas of their own.

i gotcha. my clones are about 12 days old. so im going start them on lst. so are you going to stab the hanger into the dirt or how to you plan on attaching them so the overall weight doesnt pull them down??

also do you move your plants that are lst around into different places in your grow room?

Yeah i rotate them so its like a moving light kinda. I made a kick stand kinda about 6" long and made a eyeloop at the end to give it some stability then stuck it in enough that it reaches the first bend in the hanger.
