2nd CFL grow

My thoughts are to keep CFL's about 3 inches away from young seedlings (first few days).....then move them in closer as they progress.

Yeh, it's a fine line to walk for sure...CFLs need to be close for best results. But at the same time when they get too close you risk plant damage. I know in my first grow, especially towards the end, the top leaves had gotten quite crispy from being soo close in a confined space. I'm going to try and avoid that with my 2nd grow :)

You'll know you have your placement right when the internodes are nice and tight, not too much space between them. It makes the buds easier to become one large dense cluster eventually.

1 inch is ok I would say. At one point I kept it a bit too close to the lamp and plant started bending its edges indicating about heat stress, so I pulled it from light to 1-2 inches and it went back to normal. My last grow which I harvested a week ago I started a seedling with one cfl 25w 6500K and 18W LED 6500K, and plant was growing really slowly, in a month of vegging it looked like other people plants at a second week, so make sure you'll get her more lights, cause when I did that (added 2x 25w cfl 2700K ) even with 2700K color it gave me amazing results, in a week it doubled, in another week it doubled again. I read somewhere that you should get 100 actual watts of cfl for first plant and 50w additional watts per plant. Dunno if it's true, but that worked for me :) Keep journaling. Nice to see somebody at the similar starting point and compare the results. I germinated one C99 seed on feb01 as well and this is my second cfl grow too :) I just do not yet created thread for that, but will do in few days.

Keep up the good work!

Once ur seedling pops outta the loose soil I lightly pack dirt around stem so they don't grow sideways .plant Picture 5 looks to be getting over watered.. Droopy leaves let the soil dry out a Lil bit before watering again. Check my cfl grow at cannabislove first cfl grow!!

I would like to say, I have been using cfl's for 2 yrs and with proper ventilation/airflow you should have no problem,UNLESS the leaves are TOUCHING the bulb....at least in my experience.GL.peace

thanks b166....I'm worried why they are not getting taller.....same thing happen on my first grow, it was recommended that I force them to stretch out a bit, so I'm thinking I might have to do the same to these ones

Nice I started my germ Feb 4th and on Feb 7th I planted 4 in solo cups, and on Feb 9th they were popped outtathe soil then on Feb 9th I planted 1 oh god seed ! And now itsbeen 5 days and plants are pushing 2nd setof leaves out :)
yup, your gals are all looking healthly...and very consistent

The hempy is doing great however the 3 dirt dwellers are not doing so well.

I have not watered since Tuesday morning (Feb 12[SUP]th[/SUP]) but they still appears to have over-watering issues.

They have not grown in size for about 3 or 4 days now….the leaves are turning yellow and drooping.

I’ll let them dry out until they are bone dry and begging for water…and then maybe a light dose of nutes

i do not know about letting it get that dry. i have been watering when i can tell pot is dry by weight.
when i was in a solo cup it was every 2-4 days. looks like your soil has good drainage also look dry to me.
from what i have read for soil you want to keep a little moist all the time and never let dry out.
is there holes in your solo cups?
this is mine at day 16 the last one is day 14 when i topped.
the one not in the soil does look good tho. good luck hope you get it straightened out.
