Spider Mites

I do a lot of research on growing but I always like to have a real life opinion. This sight was strongly recommended to me. I have seen some sights that it is okay to use a mixture of alcohol and water to fight spider mites. The suggested mixture is 1:3 water and alcohol to me that sounds like it could harm plant. Really dont have the finances right now for insecticides so been looking for cheap home remedies. Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Just make sure your mix has no less then 30% h20 in it.

Doesn't work......it might help temporarily, but it won't eliminate the infestation. It's cheap though.

Insecticidal soap spray is pretty cheap just follow the instructions, thats an organic way. just gotta catch it early and before the whole plant gets ruined. If you are halfway into flowering and there are visible webs all over it got out of control. Spraying soap or anything like spinosad when buds are fat could effect the taste of the flowers.

insecticidal soap is good but it will not eliminate the spide mite population that you have it will only control it somewhat... that being said your best bet would probably be neem oil... you can buy neem oil concentrate at lowes gardening section (i have before) neem oil is good for almost any kind of insect you can think of some more than others... there are many many ways to deal with mites such as cinnamon-clove tea which there is a recipe of brewing, garlic also helps control them and if you really want to get serious about it there are certain types of beneficial fungi that controls it and ladybugs will fuck up entire populations of spider mites w/o harming your plants ladybugs are like the most vicious spider mite killing machines ever look it up its actually pretty crazy... hope that helps good luck

Alcohol and really cold water kills them make a strong mix with a strong sprayer to spray underneath the leaves. The alcohol won't hurt the plan It evaporates fast. U can also use pyrethrin it's good for mites. I used it last time I had them with cold water it works everytme.

Dude I'm going through it right now it's terrible. If you don't have much $, you can make a sufacant out of MILD dish soap, regular blue dawn, about 3 tblsp per gal (then put some in a spray bottle), spray them good under leaves especially, and all over....wait an hour...spray with regular water to wash the soap off....if your using tap water let it set out for 24 hours before using...but I would recommend cinnamon oil, it's expensive but wow smells better and kills those little fuckers dead!!! A "very experienced grower" suggested this to me and I have some on order now..

EDIT: First use reg water in spray bottle and blast those fuckers off your plants, wrap small white towel around base of plant to catch any falling into soil...good luck

Hey... Two years ago I had um...
Try to lower your room temps, I don't know but when my grow room was under 82 f they seemed to hatch less and was able to get a handle on them...
Dump your remaining bag of soil out on a saucer, like a snow saucer, and spray down with H2O2... let stand spray again...
And those cheap/dollar store/wally "Fly Strips" really attract the little guys...
If you are not doing organic soil, spray on your plants and soil with H2O2... no side effects, that I have seen....

Pyrethins and Neem oil work well. You cannot actually get rid of spider mites, only control them. The only way to get rid of them is by complete eradication of all plant material from the area, that means house plants too. They hate cold temps too, if you can get the room down below 50F then you should see a drastic reduction in population since they cannot reproduce in low temps.

not true, You CAN get rid of them. If you ever had broadmites, way worse than spidermites. I used{in VEG} forbid4f wiped them out. Sprayed the floor and walls only in flower room, Wiped them out. I would only use it in a severe infestation. Otherwise for spidermites. spray 3 times every 3 days with mighty wash, or get an airless paint sprayer for better results. mites will be gone. the reason you have a problem with them coming back is because pyrethins and neem oil, DO NOT work.

I've herd if you soak three cigarettes in water over night then take out cigarettes and bring to boil let cool down to room temperature put in spray bottle and use it. Never tryed I don't have problems but maybe someone else has.

Forbid 4F (spiromesifin) is without question the strongest product available, and moves thru the leaves (not systemic though) so you only need to spray the tops of leaves. It kills eggs and miltes, which many products do not. It's incredibly expensive but you can buy a couple of applications for $25 on Ebay. I've used everything in the past and nothing totally worked- they always came back, sometimes worse then ever. Forbid is made by Bayer, and uses a process that punches holes in the skins of the mites and they die (dehydrate) in a day or two. It also lasts from 28-45 days so you may only need 1 application. Every product has good and bad points, this seems to be the "NEW" kid on the block and it works very well.

Mighty Wash, Neem, Azatrol, Azamax, Power Shots, pepper spray, alcohol wipes, Avid, Insecticidal Soap, Liquid LadyBug, Floramite.........nothing eliminated my probably all together except Forbid.

only true way to elimnate spider mites is to never bring them in the grow spot in the first place lol good luck only prob with spraying forbid is if you are close to flowering and you want to spray it, it could possibly effect your taste and/or smoke spraying it on the buds becuase quite frankly any spray to get rid of spider mites you need to soak every inch, nook, and cranny of that plant 3x over to make sure you get everything so there are many variables of mold, bud rot, smoke issues, taste issues etc etc please make sure you weigh your options of control of complete anihalation of mites, good luck

SM-90!! Do a. Search for the SNS products "217c which is to KILL spidermites, they even have a soil/medium drinch to kill egg if any in your medium!! Not only to kill spider mites either! Gets rid of thrips,whiteflies,etc'!!
All natural very easy to use, doesn't stink up the grow room, or have to worry about pets being around it. Can even be used in flower right up to the day of harvest without having bad tastes!! I myself wouldn't use it in the flower phase! But it can be used. The company that makes the products will also ship you the entire lineup (in small packs) for you/whoever to try as a sample trial run for FREE!! So I would be shooting an email out to um if I was you bro!! I did, and in about 4 days I had the products sitting on my doorstep!!

There products worked 4 me 100%!! Mite free, and anything that else (insects wise) will die on spot if they get near my tree's!!

some people swear by using a water solution with habanero peppers. theres a thread on here about how to make it.
