  • Hi,
I have a true aero system. 2 seconds on 4 mins off. start seedlings in rock wool. No nutes first week. 450ppm 2week. 300w LEDS 4inches from top of plant with fans. LED is 7 bands with more reds than blues. Plants look great for about 10 days then, stem thins and darkens and leave begin to invert themselves but still green on the top(even though their upside down). PH 5.7 water temp 71. stems look like they are chocking but the roots look white and yummy? Maybe its turning away from the light? Any ideas? When is a seedling no longer a seedling? Thanks for any help insight or ideas.View attachment 2877911View attachment 2877912View attachment 2877913

It seems like its just your lights could be to close, but people have used 600w at 2 weeks so I don't know. Just try lifting the light to about 18inch/45cm and that might help. If that doesn't fix it then its either your nutrients or your fingernail polish

I think 450ppm is too hot for that little baby, esp if you are talking about .5 conversion that works out to .9EC which is like full blown veg feeding.

450! yikes-nothing but water til plant has 3 sets of leaves then start out at about 200ppm and increase by 100pp ever week or so. don't rush the food

you got an aero system? here is a seedling LESS than 2 weeks old...IMHO people place the lamps too far away and either feed too soon or too late...the 1st pic is about a 10ish day old purple haze, (which is deformed bcuz I planted too shallow) anyway if you look close you'll notice the brown spots; when I saw that I'm thinking its time for Cal-Mag at least if not a lil food

Here is a pretty nice Green Crack, again (less than 2 weeks old) and I just started feeding yesterday: Cal Mag and a lil Bloom to about 300ish or so (might be a lil heavy but my lighting is heavy)

Maybe in Soil... but I will never agree with this "nothing till 3 sets of leaves". This has no buffer, its straight Aero.

Now the thing here is.. he says its "True Aero" What is true aero to you? WHats your PSI at so we can know? Normal LP Aero can handle 450 pretty easy.

I run 125PSI, and I start out at 110 (Liquid Karma) until week 2, then I go up to 350 for early veg, 550 for Late Veg, and around 710 for Flower.

This i believe is the problem..
ppm is way to high try not using nutes
till the plant shows you it needs food

I was thinking too wet cubes also .... I showed my seedling pics to give him a reference/standard to base what a seedling that age should/could look like...

The poor thing still has the cotyelon leaves and should never have been given nutes that early because it still has its own stored nutes. That plus that much light that close is just too much. Would you feed a newborn a steak and leave it out in the sun?

The cubes do not look too wet, the first 2 pics look like the cubes are bone dry and you don't even see water droplets on the net pot. The third pic the cube looks normal wet.

At .9 EC you might as well dump some salt in a cup of water and put your seedling in that.

I still have never had any issues putting my 800w LED on seedlings the moment they pop out. Again, no matter where in the world you are, your HID lights are not going to reach the intensity of even spring time direct sun light. Perhaps they are just getting ot brave and putting them way to close and really pushing the heat on the little guys?

Why do we relate what we would do a HUMAN baby that we would to a plant that normally grows in nature and we are hardly giving it everything it r eceives in the wild?

Not trying to be a smartass.. I am seriously curious about this line of thinking. I have never followed it (Nutes and Light) and Ive never had an issue.

Because in nature maybe one out of a thousand seeds may live to maturity, but most indoor growers have a very limited amount and they are fragile at that age.

If that little girl is two weeks old you've got an issue. At 20 days im throwing my girls into flower. I run a weird setup so nothing like aero, more like a RDWC kinda lol. My res never goes above 600-650?and thats a 1/2 way through flower. At the end of veg im only 450. On the next attempt try lowering it to half what you run and see if plants do better. My tds levels are all with base of 150 included. Good luck sorting it!!
