who knows autos?

Most breeders literally breed out undesirable traits such as low potency and yield. If it takes billions of plants to ensure that shitty traits don't show themselves, then everyone who buys seeds, photo or auto, are getting ripped off. Yes, autos yield less, but an auto that is done at 60 days will more than likely yield more than a SOG application of photos unless you add 3 weeks of veg after your clones root.

Im im not trying to bash on you or argue, but I'd be willing to put my auto bud up against most photo period bud out there. I am by no means a botanist and you seem much more knowledgable in what marijuana is the best, so the OP should just listen to you. I'm gonna go smoke my poopy weed now! Cheers!:leaf:

You can improve them, you can't get the ditch weed out completely. They are lower quality (in most cases significantly) than good quality regular seeds. This is an objective fact I can verify with my own experience. Delicious seeds head breeder (I believe his name is Paco) has plainly stated that his autos are not as potent as his regular plants.

As far as yields go, it's totally impossible to compete with regular seeds for the following reasons:

Lack of uniformity means less dialed in plants.
Lack of uniformity means you have to take the good plants with the bad ones (and most of us who have grown out a lot of seeds know that there are winners and losers in most lines).
Lack of control over when your grow is over as you can't predict the actual time it will take to finish, you can only estimate.

All of these things are important factors when considering maximizing your yields. All of these things are difficult to control with autoflowers.

There are other objective factors to consider, but those alone are enough to get the point across. If you have some kind of objective criticism of these things, I'm open to it, but I haven't seen one and I've had this discussion more than once.

I've seen that TD grow linked more than once. A lot of his plants look pretty similar (but of course not the same because of the lack of uniformity mentioned previously) to how mine looked. This tells me most of his plants were garbage too. I couldn't give that shit away around here, granted I live in a pot wonderland where you can buy lbs of top shelf Kush for no more than 1200 a unit. Tasted/smelled horrible. Barely got buzzed. There was ONE (literally one, out of 20+ plants) that didn't taste fucking awful (it was a bubblegum phenotype) and it was actually almost up to average level of quality out here.

Anyway that guy doing TD is taking 10+ weeks (my TD actually took closer to 100 days than 70 also, but this isn't the first time I've heard this) to pull a little over a half gram per watt.

Fortunately I did mine outside and they cost me little beyond the seeds. I would have been raging fucking pissed off if I had invested anymore effort and money into them than I did.

I also had a few total shit mutant phenotypes that yielded almost nothing. I will say most of the plants did yield. So there's that. It's too bad they were almost uniformly crap quality smoke. And the taste, even if it got you high (which it really didn't for me, granted my tolerance levels are really quite high), was so bad that it would quickly cause you to slow your roll anyway even if you really wanted to get high. At least for me. Taste is subjective but I don't know anyone who liked it.

It's more of a debate than an argument IMO. But I agree, and I do grow both, and as long as autos stay up with photos, I'll keep growing them! I didn't think autos whereas good either, but after my last grow, I wasn't disappointed and could literally not tell the difference from auto to photo. Good luck with your grow man! You shouldn't be disappointed unless something goes terribly wrong! Just out of curiousity, what strain(s) re you running?

Sorry for the delay, i smoked some Cherry Bomb after writing that post, and passed out on the couch! Been growing off and on for 15 years, and I have to say that Cherry Bomb (bomb seeds) is the nicest plant to grow, best smell, best taste and knocks me on my ass!

Anyways, I noticed with autos that they dont like to come out of their shell as easily as regs. I popped 2 Auto Bombs, 1 dark devil auto, and 1 auto somango. 1 auto bomb, and the dark devil popped within 24 hours. After a couple days, I had to carefully pry the shells off as they were almost 2 inch long stems with a seed attached! After a week, I figured the other 2 were duds, so i pulled em out of the plugs n noticed that both taps were out. So I cracked the seeds open and put em back in the plugs. After a day the other auto bomb sproutted. The auto somango never made it.

Hey we all love this plant, so we are on the same page :)

I grew a Positronics Super Cheese. I gave my friend some AKR i received for free. I also had the unfortunate experience of having some fucked up diesel auto.

Another interesting factor is the advertising of x days from ceed. Since you grow autos, I'm sure you're aware of what nonsense that is. Autos have their place... as hemp. They shouldn't be mixing in the gene pool of good genetics.

I'm simply adding my two cents. I did check out that NL grow over in the auto section, and was impressed at the size to be honest with you. Yet i doubt the smoke comes close to a good regular pheno.

Not all auto's are garbage. There are good ones out there. If you really wanted to help him, you would give him honest info, not your misinformed opinion.

it isnt a misinformed opinion, its fact. there are hemp genes in the plant. theres simply nothing to get around that. they are inferior genetics for those of us desiring drug variants. it's that simple.

I have a freebee auto, can I just veg it and throw it into flower like the rest of my plants? I'll probably just give it away or plant it outdoors next year, but am curious.

OK, if you say so.

He's objectively correct. What autos do you recommend? Because I grew out ones that came recommended and they weren't particularly impressive. It's not opinion, I explained why it's factually correct. And autoflowering breeders, if they are honest, will tell you the same thing in a slightly nicer way.

You can grow it in your veg room or toss it outdoors. I wouldn't take up space in my flowering room with it. I'd put it outside personally.

Hemp is sativa. Do some homework there buddy. Once again I was just giving the OP my opinion by telling him that autos aren't shit like everyone says. Just my .02, I didn't want this thread to turn into a debate. Sorry boys.

Yeah autos are great for spare space in your veg tent, but if you want a small grow that will yield fast and decently with good potency, go with an auto. Just watch OG, autos will get a good name for themselves in no time. Have a good night guys, I'm gonna smoke a bowl of some skunk mass auto:blsmoke:
