Most breeders literally breed out undesirable traits such as low potency and yield. If it takes billions of plants to ensure that shitty traits don't show themselves, then everyone who buys seeds, photo or auto, are getting ripped off. Yes, autos yield less, but an auto that is done at 60 days will more than likely yield more than a SOG application of photos unless you add 3 weeks of veg after your clones root.
Im im not trying to bash on you or argue, but I'd be willing to put my auto bud up against most photo period bud out there. I am by no means a botanist and you seem much more knowledgable in what marijuana is the best, so the OP should just listen to you. I'm gonna go smoke my poopy weed now! Cheers!![]()
You can improve them, you can't get the ditch weed out completely. They are lower quality (in most cases significantly) than good quality regular seeds. This is an objective fact I can verify with my own experience. Delicious seeds head breeder (I believe his name is Paco) has plainly stated that his autos are not as potent as his regular plants.
As far as yields go, it's totally impossible to compete with regular seeds for the following reasons:
Lack of uniformity means less dialed in plants.
Lack of uniformity means you have to take the good plants with the bad ones (and most of us who have grown out a lot of seeds know that there are winners and losers in most lines).
Lack of control over when your grow is over as you can't predict the actual time it will take to finish, you can only estimate.
All of these things are important factors when considering maximizing your yields. All of these things are difficult to control with autoflowers.
There are other objective factors to consider, but those alone are enough to get the point across. If you have some kind of objective criticism of these things, I'm open to it, but I haven't seen one and I've had this discussion more than once.
