  • The airstone gives the nutes oxygen and keeps the nutes from setteling on the bottom .
Now , you can fit four 6x6 Rockwool blocks in your setup. Some people like to use Hydroton on the bottom of the tray but for me , this just adds more expense. Some people will also put rockwool slabs in the bottom . This will help give the roots more room to expand , but for the room you have ...this is not necessary. I like to use the blocks by themselves and just set the in the tray all by themselves. The root system will grow in block and is plenty of room to grow a plant to above 4 feet. I bet that with this method and four plants , you will yield about 10 to 12 ounces your first grow.
it looks like you almost have everything ready to go . Put the submersible pump in bottom of reservoir and cut 1/2" hose to size to go from pump to fill fitting. Put on about 6" of the 3/4" overfill fitting. This is just to make sure the overflow DOES go back into the res. Next , hook up the air pump to the airstone with the 1/4" hose. If everything looks good and no leaks , this is a basic set up. Easy.
Kool , I tried to type out direction for you last night but it was too long for one entry . I thought maybe I can just post it on GENERAL MARIJUANA GROWING , under the DIY section so that you can post questions and others can learn at the same time.
    I'll get on it today.
Once you determine the height of your resevoir , you will need a table to set flood tray on . It can be as simple as you want. I made mine out of PVC because I like the way it looked.
You will need an air stone , air pump like for fish tanks , a 185 gph submersible pump, the 2x2 flood table , both flood/drain fittings, two timers , ( one for pump and one for the lights ), PH down , a PH test kit , 6x6 Rockwool blocks , 2 feet of 1/2" blue or black hose , 6" of 3/4" black hose for draining back into the tub, 2 feet of 1/4" hose for the airstone , a good measuring cup for measuring nutes , a jar of ONA gel.
You will also need a 15 gallon rubbermade tub for the resivoir but you can get that cheap at Walmart. You will probably need a power surger so I recommend you get a good construction grade one .
This should be the basic shopping list . I will put together some easy to follow directions.
Good deal i see theres a hydro shop like 5 min away from where i get my weed now so ill pick up everything in one trip, about how much am i looking at spending, just so i can bring cash
if you have a hydro shop nearby , by all means go get it . If not , go ahead and order it.
Definitely can i pick up a tray like this or should i just order one, and good deal man Happy Birthday! Hope it goes well! and alright will do, I have the day off so i'm gonna spend a good portion it reading up and ill grow in rockwool
not yet still looking im down to try an ebb and flo system and my light is 22 by 23.75 so should i try and get a tray thats like 20x20 or something like that and then do i just plant them in pots above the tray?
alright for sure thanks for the advice man il pick up the strip and fan this weekend, i have everything ready except for my system and with my light and a carbnon filter and inline fan in my 2 x 2 x 5 tent will i have enough room for a hydro setup
yeah i got 2 gl 60 tents 2 x 2 x 5.3 feet so i could veg in one and flower in one should i run the same setup in both tents? im only gonna use one of the tents until i can clone and i wanted to try to fit 2 plants in one tent if possible so im pretty cramped on space but im down to do a hydro setup if i can get some solid reliable equipment
Bongman , when your nutrients come in , there should also be included an easy to follow chart on how to combine them. Don't be intimidated . iIt's actually very easy to follow. Hlaf strenghth for the first weeks so young girls can get used to the food. If you decide to go with soil , mix the nutes half strength all the time and apply nutes every other watering. Just use PH'd water the other feeding.
