Well, I have been doing my research...
and i now know the truth about MG .. ** sigh, all I have... for now**
My 1st attempt died cause i was retarded and over watered and over fed...
I now have some feminized seeds off a strain called 2K2...
But I am looking to just have a small group of plants on a bi-monthly harvest period ** if its even possible... **

I want to mimic this article as close as possible with the exception of using LED's ** less electricity used is always a good thing**

https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/57292-my-first-grow.html

1) what is a good **cost effective** grocery list of chemicals and supplies that i can use to give a high yield
** any info on general cost and location if availible please**

2)is it nessicary if I go with a LED set up do i need different colored bulbs for the different stages of growth or does the LED cover the full spectrum needed in 1 bulb?

3) i have been told that dirty fish tank water is good because of the ammonia in the fish poop. Is this true?

Squash that led crap. Get some cfls if you are going to be cheap. Get you an hid if you want huge dense nugs that all your friends will be jealous over.

As far as nutes. I have used a hydroponic solution called Envy. It has 2 parts, an a and b. Its about $10 -20 a bottle. Its about the cheapest and the quality is good. I cut the strength back in half for my soil plants.

The cost of the LEd lamps is going to far out do the savings of the electricity.

The LED tech for gowing isn't up to snuff. (check some of the LED grows here, you will see that nearly all, if not all are also using CFLs to supliment the lighting)

List?

For simple proven grow:

FF Ocean Forset soil.

FF nutes, Big Grow, Big Bloom, and Tiger Bloom.

400W switchable MH/HPS lamp.
(but you said bi-monthly harvest. Then a 400W HPS for bloomroom and floros for veg/cloning room)

Vent fan(s)

Circulation fan(s)

Mylar to cover walls with.

pH meter for checking the water with the nutes in it
chemicals to adjust pH (usually pH up)

Temp/Humidity meter/guage (cheapo from anywhere)

I DO want huge dense nugs that my friends will be jealous over...

this grow is being done on a $free.99 to $25 budget, so i am looking at ways to minimize my overhead costs... these plants are going to be grown indoors and kept in the "ecosystem"...

so how does one "train" the tree to be a bush???

I want to make the light height adjustable too, im thinking a series of mounting holes along both sides of the top...

or hang both lights directly above, mounted on pulleys....

I also noted that the thread i'm using, he stated that he was having temp issues... the room this will be kept in is typically 10 to 20 degrees cooler and more humid that the rest of the house, will the cooler outside temps help regulate the temp inside the ecosystem?

Free to $25? and LED? Forget that idea.

Lights should be at least 75% of the budget.

Hang the lights off the pulleys. It a much easier way to do it over drilling a bunc of holes (plus the pulley system gives infinite adjustment)

Training the plant is actually easy. Ever see a fence run right through a tree? That tree learned to grow around it.

Drill a few hole around th permimiter of the lip of the pot (don't use clay pots. I went that route, figuring the held moisture could help, but had a lot of salts in it) Tie off the plant to thee holes with a little pressure. As the plants grow, that tension will actually lessen and you can add more if you need more bend.

Other part of the training is topping. Cutting off the very top of the plant. This produces 2 main stalks over the single. When to do this is under some debate, but usually 4-8 nodes. Then a few more node do it again, and you get 4 main colas (stalks)

After that you can go the SOG where you set up a grid and let those colas grow up through. This should keep the tops all the same height.

Now its been said that topping may result in more smaller buds then a single main cola. I have no opinion on that.

But n the econo aspect, just remember garbage in : garbage out.
I feel go super econo (like you want) or do it right. The 1/2 ass'ed versions wind up with investments and smaller disappointing yields.

You can have it good, fast, or cheap. Pick any two.

I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to horticulture terms / lighting terms...

I dont know what cola's are

I'm pretty mechanically inclined so having to fabricate something is not a big deal.

can i substitute the "SOG" for chicken wire?

I'm mainly looking to make these plants start producing as fast as possible...

Colas are the main stalks that carry the buds for a simple explanation.
I wouldn't use chicken wire, the holes are kinda small and wire gauge also, can cut the stalks. Get some of the fencing with like 2"x3" opening or so.

You need lights. home cheapo and lowes have HPS security lights. I'm using a pair of 150W ones for flowering. Now it does create heat, and I have rewired it to have the ballasts outside of the grow room. (which helps a lot)

Fast is gonna cost ya. hydro grows the fastest, but also has a big investment and a lot of work (at least until you get the hang of it)

Light is critical. Remember plants make their food with light and CO2, skimp on them and they don't grow well. (CO2 is taken care of for you with the air. (my inside CO2 levels are twice that of my outside. And I live alone and no pets other then a few spiders in dark closets:?) But if in a closet, the plants can use up the CO2 rather quickly, keep the door open.
Also, with no light (aka:night) plants can't use CO2.

yor definately going to need to spend alot more than that. my first set up i`m on now has cost me bout 1500.00 so far.
400 watt balast 430 watt hps
dresser converted into clone/veg box using 6 natural daylight bulbs(7.5o$ each and 15.00$ each light box x 3
initial set up can be pricey but pays for it`s self
you doin dirt or hydro?
using dirt is better for beginer and i feel cheeper.if you have good soil you dont realy need nutes. average cost per bottle of nutes in bc is bout 20-30 buck`s.
i`m trying to get my pic`s up check out my stealth cabinets for some idea`s. it took me months of research before i even bought anything

do it right-do it once save you mony inthe long run. g-luck

word... you guys have turned me into a McGuyver... I'm gonna use pre rinsed MG for now till i can transplant to a better suited medium.

i was also thinkin about a pair of cat boxes with a 2 light porch fixture in there ** why not? 2 plants could be done in there right??? they already have holes pre made**

what do you meen cat boxes? litter box if yes that dosen`t seem deep enough. and my personal preference is to stay away from mg.or if you must get a high nitrogen soil for veg.good potting soil or if low n add worm castings to mix that shit is bomb and organic(better flavor)having trouble posting pic`s

try the tag for your pics

i can get some regular potting soil ** love being a landscaper**

Can i saturate the soil with the nutrients before transplanting them into a different soil?

sounds good. i use promix mix with the worm poop.mix yor soil before hand ( little moisture) put 1/8 inch holes in the bottom and put bout 2 inches red landscape rock in the bottom then soil.

The MG soil is rather under rated. My current best plant is in it and doing great (light is my limiting factor)

If you use MG or 'pre-loaded' soil, just wait a while before using your fert. Like a month.

Some people just mix up their own Use a combo of of these (though maybe not all of them) peat, perlite, vermiculite, worm castings, bat guano, blood meal, bone meal, etc

The big complaint on MG is that its a time released fert/nute. That takes any control away. You might get a blast at a random time of the nutes and burn the plant some. I've done little to no nutes in veg.

heres pic of my chemo trying to get boxes up

is this without using any other type of plant food outside of what was already inside the MG to begin with?

can I use MG concentrated plant food ** i have the blue gravel type of food that is mixed in water**

Can I use it since Now i have switched growing mediums?

what about using rose fertilizer tablets later on to increase flowering?

I'm not doing too bad on my quest though, since I am currently unemployed and have $5.00 in my savings account
** damn stimulus check ain't got to me yet**

ok, so heres a list of the stuff i already bought/found/had or * my favorite* magically acquired, and there total costs so far...

1lb of MG concentrated plant food - already had it, snatched it from a job
** unsure if i want to use now, since i switched growing mediums**

2 lb MG Perlite - $3.99

3 lb potting soil - 1.50

2 x 10 gallon rubbermaid storage bins w/ lids just in case - $4.50 each
** need 2 more**

1 x 3 bulb bathroom light fixture - Free.99 :) ** need 3 more **

1 x Old Cellphone charger - just now found it in my computer desk ** lol, good shit**

I still need more stuff, but I think that If can be safe getting the building supplies from the dollar store, though i know that I have a few trips to the local hardware store is in my future...

Go for it!

Hold off with the MG nutes for while (are they water soluble?)

Get the biggest CFL bulbs you can find, and start growing!

Think of the first round or 2 as a learning experiment.
