18/6 vs. 24/7

I've been told to have the lights 24/7 in veg. but some say I should have them 18/6.

What's the difference? Isn't it good to just give them as much ligth as possible before I start flowering?

The diff is that you save some money w/ 18/6. The growth is about equal. For optimal growth put them at 20/4. We had this debate some months back, ill find you the link. Lamp

I don't think you will find any real difference except difference of opinion. Just do what you are happy with and don't worry about it. You'll be fine either way. :bigjoint:

i did 18/6 click on my pic and cheack out my album today they are 11 days old
Listen to smokingherb, Hes a smart guy. Go with 20/4 all long time growers seem to think that 20/4 is the best. There is no diff in 18/6 or 24/0 Just a change in power bill. If you go to the link i posted at the top of the thread, this thread could have been skipped. This question gets asked alot. And there is only one expirement to go by. And in that study 20/4 worked the best by something like 15%. Thats quite a bit. Lamp

besides the obvious saving money. I am a firm believer that every plant needs at least a short dark period everyday. I use 18/6, because plants grow most at first light, my plants under 24 hr grew much slower than the same clones under 18/6. It makes sense, theres no time for the plant to rest to store nutes, and adds much stress to a never relieved plant. Much debate, but there shouldnt be, dark periods are essential to maximize growth of the plant

Yeah I agree that some rest for the childern will be best for them. All living things needs rest?

I just recently switched form 24hr to 18/6 for rest/stress benifits.
