You know its kinda funny, last year I had maybe 7 seeds between 3 plants show up in the bud over time after harvest. Was really curious about how that happened. I guess this would 100% confirm that someone in my neighborhood has males out. Two years in a row?? Really shitty considering I dont know the extent of how much is pollinated yet, and if the first flowers forming are gonna get preggo too. If thats the case and he hasnt pulled the male yet it could do some serious damage to this years harvest. Looks like I might be opening my own seed bank in the fall lol
Ill be plucking off the swollen calyxs when I see them.
Definitely no light leaks in your grow area right? Easy to miss one pollen sack, which contains tons of pollen.. But you guys are probably right, chances are its getting pollenated froma neighbor. Do you know if anyone grows industrial hemp near you?

The neighbors house directly over the fence usually has an inside light on for a bit after sundown. Our deck light is on briefly at night when we let the dogs out. But considering that the furthest plant along in flower barely has any flower formation whatsoever id think that they arent hermies. I could be wrong, and I want to be because that would be a solution actually in my reach to fix. Im pretty familiar in and out with the plants, Ive seen these tiny "scentless plant bugs" that chill literally in between the very new growth of each top that ive been checking for/removing so im definitely paying close attention. Ill take more time to look for nanners though.
I live in a pretty secluded part of town across the streets from the woods. All the neighbors surrounding my house have children and dont seem to be the type to grow cannabis/hemp, I talk with them quite frequently and they know about my garden/are cool with it (known some of these people for 2 decades).
There is a house down the street with people that moved in 2-3 years ago that has a garden I can see when walking the dogs, and it DID look like he had 1-2 small cannabis plants, this could be the culprit right here.

Some indoor growers just toss their males outside too, not even realizing how long they can live out there if you don't remove the root ball

Yeah exactly. No ones to blame here, but its really discouraging dealing with it on top of everything else we outdoor growers go through. Theres a lot more uncertainty about how successful this harvest will be now. Im staying optimistic, live and learn!

Hmm very well could be.

Just suggested it because i had to kill off a plant last week that I had going since Feb. not sure exactly what caused the herm but there definitely were light leaks, and a few days before a friend had pulled onto my lawn and had head lights on while trying to back out and do something to his tire so the lights were on them for about 10-15 min during their dark., Also, porch lights within 200 ft and a street light (hps) within 500 ft. but theres also the fact that it was indoor since feb and light cycle had to be switched when transplanting outdoors, as well as it being a bag seed... Theres a million reasons itcould've been herm.,.. But I spray everything top and bottom with B.t. every week, Im out there at least 2-3 hours a day, I check and LST everything... and they still snuck up on me... Luckily nothing opened, But I mean, out of nowhere I saw a whole branch with tons of male preflowers starting, after it had been growing female preflowers for months... I had confirmed female so long ago I sort of let my guard down. Could be a blessing in disguise because Im growing 4 gorilla glue fems and GG is known to herm, So its sort of given me a refreshed outlook/vigilance to be on the look out just as everything is starting to flower.

I hope for your sake it is a herm as well, Maybe strike up a convo with the neighbors and see if they happen to bring it up (wouldnt even mention yours at all..) Good luck my friend. Cheers :joint:

Such an awful feeling. We do what we have to to end up with a good harvest, I guess its all part of the game. I completely overlooked it because I've never had to deal with it for 3 years now which is completely on me if thats what happened. I am running some dutch passion strains which also doesnt have the best track record in terms of hermies so Ill get to looking and hunt the neighbor down and take it from there lol. Thank you man, cheers!

Edit: Just went and rechecked everything. It appears only the OG#18, 24k Gold, and Cali O have seeds, and its less than a dozen between the 3 plants. Plucked everything off and found 2 completely mature seeds off the 24k, which would mean that the window of pollination was 2-6 weeks before I even noticed this. Honestly if anything this is super interesting stuff to me, I didnt know it was possible for a female plant to produce mature seeds before it even flowers.

This year’s plant from one of last year’s Afghan Kush three feminized plants. Found the seed in a bud, plus one that was underdeveloped. Never saw any bananas on the plants but it looks similar to the ones I grew last year, albeit a little smaller. And none of the neighbors within a few hundred yards are likely to have any plants, so I’m guessing I missed a male flower.

Unfortunate is right... They become like children at a certain point, you literally raise them from babies and look after them 24/7... But definitely do what we got to... Sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and cut your arm off to save your whole body like that rock climber dude they made a movie about (127 hours or something like that.)....

That is really interesting you got a mature one out of that though, I'd be interested in seeing what the trichomes look like on that calyx that mature one came out of if you have a scope and still have the calyx lying around.

Pretty much my situation last year (without having confirmation that someone else is growing close by in the neighborhood), had me thinking I was going crazy!

Haha sometimes it really feels like that.
I squeezed the mature seed out of the 24k and saved it cuz why not but the calyx is bug food now. I picked off all the rest I could see, and im sure theres more, but I left one on the OG18 to see what would happen since none of them were mature that I was pulling. Ill check it in a week or two and make sure to get it under the scope.
With 2-6 weeks in the past being the window of pollination, the fact that so few plants even have these, and there being so few Id like to think im in the clear. My main concern is obviously with future sites getting pollinated (considering theres no herms) and now I have to learn how to blast my entire harvest lol

No seeds thus far, but just found out there is a damn hemp field a mile down the road from me. Only saving grace is a ton of old growth trees between us be my property is higher in elevation.

I wouldn't kill it over a few seeds. There was a time when all the weed had seed. Most of it was pretty dam good.

Just saw this forum very excited..

This is my grow "bikini bottom" in Cape Ann. 5 pineapple express G13 one unknown indica and a couple of clones in the foreground. Best crop evah so far no problems at all.. Topped them all at least twice , all are about 10 days into flowering I'm hoping they aren't to big to finish before the fall rains come. I did build a structure to support and cover if need be.
