2020 MASSACHUSETTS outdoor grow Thread!

I was under the impression that BT was mostly for worms and caterpillars, not for much else? I see I need to be educated further. It does other stuff?
I've been using dr zymes for bugs and fungus. I got rid of a few early thrip and other bug issues, and the plants look clean with no bug issues since . Its a little more pricey than 3% obviously, but for $30 a concentrate bottle should basically last all grow if using only for a few plants. It also is supposed to help degrade all the poop and other bug stuff so it doesn't mold. Can also be applied until harvest and supposedly meets organic requirements.

Not sure if its all that, but its been working well and its my plan (with fans) to last until mid October in the greenhouse I am hoping.

Also for scissors as mentioned in another post, I like the straight ones sure, but a curved blade with some sort of anti-stick coating is great too. The friskers everyone mentions looks nice though, might try a pair.

Hey guys it’s getting cold at night espically this week in western ma. Forecast says 43-46. Is this going to kill my plants ? They are in the ground.
It's 36 here this morning, colder than I expected.

Not sure about outdoor temp kill zone, hopefully some of these more experienced guys poke in and let us know. I was too hoping for a mid october harvest.

Low overnight temperatures will not kill your plants. Cannabis can even take a light frost. It's more of a problem that growth will stall when nights are cold and days are short. Here in Eastern Massachusetts I can go until about the first or maybe second week of October, at best. After that, even with no frost, the plants just don't grow anymore.

I grow Sativa dominant hybrids bred for mold resistance and that will finish mid to late September, mostly strains from Ace and Mandala Seeds. I'm also running Jake's Romulan this year as an experiment. I mostly gave up on Indicas because of botrytis running through the big chunky buds.

Next year I’m going to find some mold resistant strains for outdoors. I started early this year to I put them out the first week of April. They had been vegging inside for a little while but I didn’t realize that putting them outdoors would freak them out and they started to kinda flower until they acclimated. So that was some wasted time otherwise I think they may have been done by nowish maybe next week or so but oh well

Welp, my six 6-ft ladies are infested with budworms and still about 4 weeks from expected harvest date. I spent an hour or so picking the budworms off yesterday, followed by Spinosad spray but it just seems so overwhelming. They're not big but they're EVERYWHERE (well, at least the majority of the top buds so far). But rot has not set in much yet, but their poop is everywhere. I chopped a few pieces and did a 3 step budwash with H202 and lemon juice, dried 6 feet from a small fan for 24 hours. I just put some of it in a Volcano vape and it definitely got me good and high, so I may just chop a little every day and try to let the least affected branches finish out.

So far so good here, still battling a little bit of PM but I should have it under control. My only issue I foresee soon is my late start to flowering is gonna fight me in the coming weeks. My girls need at LEAST 4 more weeks if not more so I’ll be deep into October for sure this year. So I’m thinking about fully enclosing my shelter with plastic for warmth in a couple weeks. Just gotta figure out ventilation

Wow great job guys, both crops look spectacular. Dsmr, little tip would be to try and focus efforts on retaining heat in the root zone... Never tried it but maybe an electric blanket (they have commercial concrete curing electric blankets too I believe, not sure on cost or available to rent?)

Possibly even just some bottles of boiling water on the ground before bed, along with an insulating mat of some sort (tarps retain heat real well... but cheap emergency space blanket for 2 bucks maybe? (benefit of some reflection maybe), just take off to breathe during the day to make sure nothing funky grows underneath it. Possibly an old piece of foam batting insulation or even styrofoam. I've heard its the root zone to be concerned about for getting too cold, and if you only need to buy yourself a couple of week, this may be a hassle but worth the effort. I personally think just some hot water bottles and a tarp would be fine, possibly even too hot under the water bottles directly so keep that in mind if you do decide to do that. But either way, great looking plants, they've sure come a long way, both of you guys.

Everyones looking like they're going to have a nice strong finish, if this weather continues cooperating,
Trying to get access to a better camera and get some update pictures up for you guys.
Keep up the good work.

Bacillus Thurigiensis UM96

Appears to be effective directly against botrytis, but have yet to find any for sale.
Cant use amazon for some reason? Plenty of sellers have it in stock when I checked the other day, and shipping is back to normal-ish delivery times for my last 10 packages or so since covid started, they're arriving within 1-2 days for me again. Even had 3 packages from china make it to me in about 2 and half weeks instead of 2 months..

Yeah, looks like we are all looking at October for finishing up, if I remember right, it was cold late into spring, probably hung most of us up.? Last year at this time was a whole different story. One thing, even though the colas are skinnier, we are missing the bus for that showed up about the same time as well.

@Warfox Heating tape. They use it here in New England to wrap the copper pipes, or across roofs that freeze up. It comes in hose like lengths, and it just came to me that you could wrap it around multiple pots, plug it in and wallah. It does.not get real hot, just warm enough to protect from freezing. Hell, I might even try it. HOWEVER, I'm also seeing that we should be in the 60's until the week of October 18th when a main storm system will be coming through. I see no 30s until the week of October 25th, but again, we all know how fickle Mother Nature can be. I'm gonna put it in her hands until she tells me otherwise....

It’s mid September and time’s running short so here’s an update on my grow. Decided to move inside to get these girls to finish otherwise it wasn’t gonna happen. Glad I did they seem to like it so far

Thanks!

Next up is to finish setting up shed for drying; guessing I’ll be employing a humidifier to keep humidity up. Shooting for 60% and 60 degrees dry conditions for a slower dry.
