Everyone make it okay? Had to be away last night and had someone help me close up the GH and get the fans right, seems to be okay. Going to spray for mold and bugs this morning and hope the temps get back up fast. Showing 29 on my way home this morning.
Made it through no problems, supposed to be even colder tonight. In the 20''s

Quick update with the shitty $30 smartphone camera... Sorry (again)

Everythings doing fine, although I'm experiencing the same as some others being about 2-3 weeks behind last years outdoor run, My earliest possible harvest will be at least mid oct. but looking like it will run later.

I threw in a couple pictures of my stunted "R19" random bag seed... its in a 3 year old hugelkulture bed that hasnt been fed in years, and was a plant that I threw outside early march almost trying to kill it, it reveged and was stunted, but has survived... Its got some beautiful tiny little purple nugs on there, and the whole plant smells like your sniffing a bottle of fresh ground pepper... Never really was a big fan of the peppery smell but this is looking better and better.. Wish I had taken better care of her, and knew the genetics behind her... Oh well, will be a nice little plant. For the rest, most are doing well... They're behind as stated... Im really worried Im not getting enough sun, Im definitely changing locations next year because there have been too many changes in the neighborhood. I had 3 branches of the smaller white widow and OG kush break, they were not the main colas but 2nd, 3rd biggest ones on each plant... They're very early, but drying now and will be a nice little pre harvest taste and smell test...Plus it gives me a chance to finish dialing in my drying room these next week or two and get that all squared away.

@dsmer and the other guys who I was talking about root zone temps and overnight heating solutions... I just wanted to throw this in here for you guys, I took a pic this morning about 7am, and it was probably the coldest night here since spring...

I use these cooking meat thermometers and jam them into my fabric pots, it helps me get an idea of the root zone temps mainly during the mid days in summer to make sure they're not cooking in the black pots, But they were fine all year.. But from last nights cold, I went out this morning and checked the thermometers... They are only 4 inch long probes, so they really dont go inside the pot very far... which I would assume would mean it'd be colder since its closer to the edge of the pot/exposed to fabric pot walls... The temps were 60-65° and the outside air temp was a lot colder this am, I forgot to check what it was exactly but definitely not 60°-65°

I believe the 100gal pots retaining heat from the daytime as well as any compost/decomposition or any sort of heat generated kept this warm throughout the night, I would assume that plants in the ground would retain heat better and you may even get some sort of geothermal heating effect going (probably not deep enough, but sure it helps to retain heat better than my pots even if it doesnt get geothermal heat)I just thought it was interesting the temperature difference even on the coldest night of the year which granted wasnt that cold compared to what some of you gals and guys are dealing with.. But still... Hopefully it will help ease some of the stress and worry on your minds, These plants are hearty SOBs.

IMG_20200919_100034.jpgWill try to keep the pics short, will upload the full update album in my grow "journal" ( Link ) for anybody interested.
Sorry again for the quality.

Cheers :leaf: :joint: :peace:

Thanks for the tip! I’ll have to try that. Luckily I have some thick mulch which should keep the soil well insulated. It gets pretty warm during the day still. My girls still look super healthy so I’m not too worried about it yet.

Annnnnd here comes the powdery mildewDSCN1990.JPG

You can hardly see it in these pics, I had to cut a bunch of bottom branches, and when I looked I was like, whered it go??? You have to turn the leaf just right to see it or it disappears. I think I got it all but am thinking of moving the plant to a spot outside the garden.

Next year Im thinking of trying some super cropping, I found this video, thought Id share it with my Mass friends...

Damn yeah, that time of year... Ive got a bottle of 3% h202 in the garden all times now Ive already gone through a couple gallons for preventative... Sucks with covid too because I cant find it in any stores around me right now, have to order online.

do you have any advice about a 30% milk solution?

Ive used it a couple times on surrounding plants in the yard when I had milk go bad in the fridge but still fresh just no one will drink it, Ive also done a small sprayer with like 4:1 water:milk in an emergency when I didnt have any peroxide. But I honestly didnt notice a difference either way, the time I used the sprayer I got some peroxide soon after so its tough to say what worked and what didnt.

The way I look at it, peroxides cheaper, and does the same thing, possibly even better benefits with bacteria and other stuff.
Ive also read about lacto bacillis (sp?) having benefits in the garden but I really dont know enough about it to have an opinion either way.

If you have wpm, I think the milk would definitely be better than nothing, but having the choice between the two, I'd go with the 3% peroxide.
Good luck brother.

LAB is really good stuff ... i find it kills PM instantly on contact... great for a lot of other stuff in the garden, and really easy to make

1. soak rice in water (i let it sit for 24 hrs)
2. Strain out rice washed water and let sit in a mason jar with a paper towel or cheese cloth as a cover for about 3 days
3. Add one part rice washed water to 10 parts milk and let that sit with paper towel cover for about 4-5 days
4. Curd will separate from the whey .... remove the curds (this has uses as well, good for dogs) .. the whey is your LAB

Here's a great link on how to make it

I'm wondering if it's time to chop this plant or if I'm being overly cautiousWhen I look at it through my loop the callus seem to be pretty darkBrown but the trichomes are still pretty clear. They're starting to get cloudy..IMG_66021.jpgIMG_66111.jpgIMG_66141.jpg

Well folks, according to the frrost map, doesnt look like we are gonna make that late harvest this year. 2020 has in fact, continued to be The Year of Suck. I hear the Pakistani and some far east places that grow hash plants and let them go in the fields until they are covered with snow. Well, Im not letting mine go that far So the question, how far do I let it go? The question is, what kind of damage does frost do?

Next weekend we are allegedly going to be in the 80's. If The three day 30 degrees doesnt stunt or slow the growth, hopefully we will go right back on track. From everything Ive read, I think there is no reason to overreact. Its not freezing... the 29 degree went up into the 30s, and I think we are all going to be just fine.
