Will start pre-soaking seeds in weak peroxide and water in a few minutes.

In the meantime the annual winter windowsill plant abuse project continues into flower. It’s kind of neat to see the right kind of trichomes even on the leaves of this unknown Afghan that was a freebie (unknown because as per the very proper British owner of The Real Seed Co, an “unhelpful person” mixed together seeds collected from four different areas)

Ya, stay away from Real Seed.

Ahhh, ok see. Just thought I'd heard a couple whispers about Real Seed.
Great Lakes Genetics, North Atlantic, and now Copa are my fav top 3. For now...

Nah, they are good as gold. They toss in extra freebies beyond what they officially advertise for me sometimes. Twice they’ve replaced seeds that wouldn’t pop for me, no questions asked. Even replaced an order that disappeared in the Royal Mail system without any questions, and wouldn’t even charge me or ask me to return anything after I’d received the replacement order and then the original shipment showed up a few weeks later.

Great pricing too - as an example I just bought a dozen seeds from Panjshir Valley, Afghanistan for $63 from them. Other landrace seed merchants are charging $120 to $150 for 10 seeds from the same province. And these guys don’t obtain seeds from farmers who support or pay tax to the Taliban, unlike most of the others.

Seeds coming along pretty well and some will go into cups today. The top group are from Rasol, Indian Himalaya - collected in 2019 and resided in my freezer for three years, which doesn’t seem to have bothered them. Gonna try to make some hand-rubbed Temple Balls out of them -

I too started April Fool’s. I used to start St. Patty’s Day but the plants would become rootbound in the keg cups before the ground was warm enough to plant in mid-May, so I’d have to transplant to a larger pot before going outside. My highly accurate bro science observations tell me that it takes about a week for plants to really bounce back from transplanting and so there wasn’t much benefit to starting mid-March, just more work.

Ya I got april 1st from your post haha. After thinking a bit I figured it was really only a couple weeks earlier for me. I normally go into finals on jun 1st but have noticed that past couple yrs its been decent enough weather to put them out mid may when they really can go out. I actually did last year.GL

Hello my friends!! Well, it's soaking beans time, I do have a few solo cups, Bruce Banner, Super Skunk, Sunny Days and Banana Republic that are already in the 'shoe-string' phase. I have been putting them on the porch for some daytime love and was almost tempted to leave them out tonight. I am leaving the temp gage that gives me high and low for 24 hours out overnight. Hoping to get motivated and rolling with these testers. I have some Lemon/Skywalker that are supposed to get fairly big.
I've got quite the vault of beans this year, hoping this is gonna be a great one!!

Gotta love ❤ North Atlantic, always hearing good things and I've experienced good things. Still, Shoreline Genetics is and will be my absolute #1 fav.
April 24-26th is going to dip down into the 30's. Just when I wanted to be putting stuff out. Figures, the year I want an early jump is the year we have stretched out cold nights.
Here's a few kids, running a different medium to test, and new fabric grow bags to maybe replace the Solo cups. Running both.

Well I bit the bullet and put the kids outside... sink or swim, I noticed some of them had stunted, some of them are doing much better after just a couple days. Tuesday says 30s so I will bring them in, maybe, one last time. After I separate the stunts, I'll do a last germination...

Any one else ever had pants that stunted? They may survive all summer, but they ever grow more than 10 inches maybe. They will bud, turn purple and produce a mini nugget, but that's it. It's definitely from poor attention, proper lighting and all that.
Here's a question, I have a security light in my yard triggered by coons, possums and intruders. Thinking of switching it to red or blue? Some of the light can trickle to the garden....
