Curious how far everyone keeps their plants from their cooltube? And what light watts you running?
400w Cooltube from plants. How far?

I'm running a 250w HPS lamp, I adjust daily so I let my girls almost touch the glass. If they touch for too long they burn.
Also, I run separate air intake for my bulb so I don't have to filter the bulb exhaust, makes the cooling process much more efficient.

I have my 400w about 6 inches from some tips without burning them. With a cool tube you could have it almost touching the glass.

I have a 400 hps in a homemade hood 18" x 10" with glass, 4" vent that i keep right at 8". I would think when i make or get my cooltube i could get within 4"- 6" easy. But i would also like to hear from someone who runs cooltubes on 400 or 600 watts

If you have it cooltubed then it depends on the size of the fan i think, my plants could touch my 400w but i generally keep it about 8in away as to spread the light just a little bit more..

Have you seen the 100 w 2700k CFL? Its the equivalent of a 400w HPS without the heat. For the same price of a HPS you can get two of these CFL's and still have change left over to impulse buy more random stuff from the hydro store. My hydro store sells the complete unit (bulb & lamp holder) for $77.
Sorry buddy, a 100 watt cfl isn't the equivalent of a 400 watt hps.
