just bought a 600 watt to replace 400 in 4x4 tent. is this enough light ? I was worried about heat with a 1000watt. I hope to get better yield & thicker buds. any thoughts?

Sounds great,need a good fan or two and your in business.
honestly you should start your seeds under a couple cheep floresent bulbs(t8,t5,t5HO,CFL)(24 hrs a day)
veg under your 400w metal halide(18 hrs a day)
,and flower under the 600w high pressure sodium(12 hrs a day)
you would get great results

What sort of grams were you pulling with the 400w?
I use 400w in a 3x3 footprint and average 350-500g depending upon strain choice.
Although 600w covers that area better i like to have room to move around in my grow.
More light doesn't necessarily mean bigger harvests.
Keeping plants healthy with an abundance of good foliage is the key to greater yields.
How yellow are you're plants when you harvest?
