Was looking for beginner strains and ran across 8 Miles High. Reading Mandalas write up,this stuff is the bomb.Easy to grow, fast to develop and finish,Sativa and indica phenos, big buds, fragrant, stress resistant,uplifting,etc.etc.,and it is unavailable anywhere I checked,until2013 according to Mandala. If it is so great why are they holding back on it?Is there a story here?anyone grow this stuff or know of anything similar, orif any bank has it?

I have heard over and over its a wonderful buzz. It seems to be implied its not extremely potent but its a really nice buzz type.

at this very moment, 8 miles high is in my top 3 favorite strains. it's similar to haze in it's THC profile. it's not as trippy as more potent strains like REAL columbian gold or haze skunk, but it's also less likely to bite you hard on the ass if you overdo it. i WANTED to use it as a breeder this year because it will be "rare" until it comes back in '13, but had problems with mold in the peat pellets it was in and the first one that sprouted snapped in the stem. i'm still trying to figure out why i've been seeing that happen a lot in several strains. my best guess is that the primordae are pushing against the sides of the holes in the pellets instead of trying to grow upwards until they snap or that maybe it's about lack of moisture, but i can say that the previous 2 packs i popped were all happy & healthy.

i'll ALWAYS hold a sentimental spot in my heart for the strain as it was the first NAMED strain i'd smoked since the effing 80s (WRONG WRONG WRONG EVIL CORRUPT & WRONG!) that actually got me high. after just a couple hits of it, i got a nice warm dose of euphoria with a twist of psychoactivity that loved music & dancing unlike pure energy & euphoria strains like kali mist that are too hard to sit still on. the most distinctive trait to me was how perfectly neutral the energy level was. it is anything but stoney, but it isn't racy or edgy either. i'm so pissed that my 3rd pack has been problematic the last 4 beans. i hope the 1 sprout that didn't mold or snap is a female.

i have a bunch of other strains i expect to be more potent and tripper like haze skunk (more trippy & potent for sure) and jack's cleaner 2, but 8 miles high's mellower personality makes it perfect for any situation. i'd love to breed something very similar but faster finishing with it, but it's totally worth a few extra weeks as is for the "just right" buzz you get from it that beats the living shit out of EVERYTHING i've been annoyed with from coast to coast you waste money on in the streets since the mid 80s easily.

i can't wait until it comes back and will buy it again no doubt. i just hope it doesn't get fucked with like kali mist 2.0 that's lost it's lip burning crushed red pepper flavor to appease all of the wusses that wanted it toned down & fruitier. the original flavor was "just right" to me and i'd hate to see anything changed in 8 miles high. it's the "comfort food" of getting high.

if you want to get high... 8 miles high is that far above most of the cash crapping strains that pollute the streets and probably 90% of the seed market too. i like haze skunk more, for now, for higher potency & psychoactivity, but less for the flavor or how out of line it can get if you push that extra toke that starts the dreaded room spinning. some day, i'd hope to ALWAYS have some 8 miles high on hand. it's PERFECT for people that are too jumpy and twitchy to be messing around with more potent sativas. it just boosts fun levels a couple notches without any negative side effects of all. it's a very classy buzz to me. the first time i blazed it, i got so caught up in having fun i don't think i took a third hit for at least half an hour.

it has the fun type of buzz i expected in skunk #1, but that was lacking in that boring stony strain. i have no use for ANY level of stone.

it really sucks that you can't get 8 miles for a while, but i bet kalichakra isn't shabby either and going by the prices, satori might be even better.

i know i have strains i'll love in my collection, but it just wouldn't be the same without 8 miles. it's like a best friend that doesn't do drama.

hope that helps.
