OK while no pics today (the plants are looking great!) there are some tips I wanted to share with you as well as a FREE magazine you guys should all go download and read...

1) Reading journals the other day i've read that NGT recommended 24 hr light per day, I was at first surprised because i thought that 18/6 is recommended to let the plants "rest". Well that turned out to be a bunch of BS because 24 hours is recommended not only by NGT but Ed Rosenthal, a leading cannafigure of Soft Secrets magazine.

Speaking of Soft Secrets, the magazine is awesome! Filled with pictures, humor, boobies, and of course, great articles and tips from pros. Go download all their copies...

Soft Secrets Welcome

They even have a for dummies magazine....

The yellow bottom leaves are the echo of bubbles the plant killer. The yellow leaves and cotyledons have been removed.

So here's a new set of pics. As you can see, since turning the light on 24 hr mode, the plants have almost doubled in size...my 600W HPS/MH setup is coming, can't imagine how they will grow then.

The yellow spots on the leaves was an idiot mistake on my part and was caused by misting the plants 3 times in 1 day with a .5 EC solution..causing bad burns on 2 plants and a few spots on others. My soil plant has spots on it too after some of that water landed on it. Probably nutrient spill burn coupled with lens effect from close CFLs.

They have been cleaned, flushed and refed a day ago. They're recovering...

THanks for the support guys! I"ll check your journals.

So the lamps arrive tomorrow :) can't wait.
This hobby does add up, NGT was right again. SPent about 85$ today on a heavy duty digital timer, extension cord, air exhaust aluminum piping, big bottle of pH down...

The funniest thing at the hydro store though.

I go in, and there are two guys inside. One at the counter and the other's a customer. As I suspected (i believe hydro shops are 90% if not exclusively used by canna growers), the customer was asking when he should top the colas....rofl, i almost burst out laughing.....they saw me and got really quiet, then he asked if I top colas.....I said i'm planning to (even though i won't). So they began discussing cloning and the best methods to cut the branches....lol

So I walk around for 5 more minutes, I expected to see more women in there as usually that's the potential customers of flower stores....hmm guess not hydro shops. Two college kids walked in, they looked high as hell and had a skunky aroma about them....they saw me buying my stuff and one said to the other that he needs a timer too, but if he gets a timer, they won't be able to afford the seeds... ROFLMAO....that entire shop was full of potheads! :weed:

LMAO!!!! That's funny. I've gone in the hydro shop a couple of times but no funny stories to tell. I suppose it is possible that someone would spend a few hundred bux to grow basil or lemon balm but... I doubt it.

Lol exactly. That's what i left the fairly large 10% error margin for...just image an average dude, age 20-40.....walking around a flower store....spending hundreds if not thousands of dollars.....to do what? Grow roses of course...or maybe those little cute chili peppers....AHAHAHA this is too funny....especially the 2 college kids....who were obviously spending the last of their hard earned money on....pumpkin grow nutes!!! hahaha

Well, decided to water them with just plain water last night. Dunked them nice and deep. This is to be 100% safe from nutrient burn, plus cleaning out any built up salt or lime in RW. I seem to have overwatered the big one in the back row slightly, it's leaves were slightly droopy. That's because the water came up almost to the top of the cube, shouldn't have done that. Oh well, i squeezed all of them slightly so they don't drip and they'll be fine in a day or so.

....did i mention I might try the MH setup tonight? Yesss.... (hopefully i don't bbq the plants in the process). I'm planning on leaving about 4 ft of space between the light and the plants.

I don't have any standing water in my RW setup. RW acts just like roots in that it wicks up water by capillary action. It will hold any water and not let it go back down. If you don't have standing water at least the roots have a shot at getting some O2 as well; gotta have that stuff! :)
