I've been reading through alot of the areogarden treads... and alot of info out there. I was wondering if some one could just give me a couple guide lines to my first attempt. My seeds are kinda old and I'm only geting 2 or 3 of them to start going, it's been over a week and I got no growth at all I do have some seed splitting and signs of roots but nothing to like some of the pictures i've seen in other treads. I read some where about flowering the plant at 4" roughly 3 nodes. I also read something about way to keep 1 small mother, and then 2 clones and then 2 vegging and then 2 flowering with an areogarden. Agian I'm as newbie as you get. This was nothing more then some one offered me a areogarden. But like I said any info you can provide me as far as what point I should take specific steps and best way of doing those steps... I know that the info is in other threads but there are some many different views on different steps, I was hoping for someone who maybe has a set up i have and can save me some learning curve.

Thanks to all know offer any advice.

I'll see if I can't find that book, Ok so a couple of questions till then though if anyone can help me. I've had seeds germing now for over a week and I got nothing a couple of them cracked but are moving very slow others that aren't doing anything, at what point should I call them just to dead and try new ones? I've read I think it was Garden gnome that was talking about flowering the plants at 3 nodes roughly 4-5"... Does this really work? as will it hurt my end product in some way? Is an airstone worth getting for my AG?

it depends on how you are germing them.again the strain has a little to do with it,but usually 3 days to a week maybe a little longer and then put in the AG.

you can flower when they are that big or small i should say, it will just result in smaller plants smaller amount of bud...i did that last time and i still needed to raise my hood taller then it would go. and yes get the airstone, id get like 2 small airstones with like a 20 gallon air pump and use a splitter

ok so I went out and got a air pump and 2 4" airstones for my AG... the pump is a 20-60 that pumps up to 2800cc per min... I've seen alot of people talking about 3 part foods is there something I can get at walmart that will do the job or do I need to search out a garden center.... Has any one noticed something working better with the aero garden then tablets that come with it or will they do the job? I got the herb pack and liberated the herbs from the foam cores and put in my own which has not been to success full as you can read in my other posts. I've moved some to a paper towel and a closet in hopes that I can get something to go? Any thoughts on why some of my seeds have cracked and then seem liked they stopped? They are kinda old seeds by old a good few years I just swapped them for newer I found in a random bag... some are in the AG others in are in closet... Is there a better options other then that foam cores you get with the kit?

Does any one scratch their seeds before germing?
any inputs on CFL for side lights... I'm not sure I understand what i'm looking at when I saw them in the store the other day

for the nutes, you need to find some hydro nutes they dont have them at garden centers normally, you can find them at hydro shops or online, im using the tabs, just cut the dose in half and it should be good, mine are bushy as hell

If I do that should I change the water in my rez tank? when I put new food in?

I have the bubbles going full steam should I have them on a timer or just free flowing

if you use the tabs it came with you dont need to change the res but you could
dont put the airpump on a timer let it go all the time

ok so I was at costco today and I bought some CFL's I was wondering if they would work with what I'm trying to do? it's a 100watt 60mhz 380ma mercury CFL I got 6 for like 8 bucks and change? Or do I need a different light I'm just looking for side lights for my AG.

Any input as far as alum foil over the part the holds the plant carriers? I've seen it on a few pics and some with out it.

Thanks for all the advice Nirvana... I have no idea what I'm doing here

no prob beta,
as for the mercury cfl, that should work just fine im sure
and you can put the foil (or mylar preferably) so light will refect back up to the underside of the plant, but it is not necessary, especially when you got side lights

i saw on here someone made a cfl hood out of PVC and mylar, that would be a great idea and just make it so it can enclose the whole plant :-D i might have to try that hehe
