I did not do that...yet...I'm not sure how necessary of a step this is. (Again, this is my first try growing)
I would suggest picking one up, they are relatively inexpensive (~$25 for the whole airstone/pump/hose setup). Definitely worth $25.

More oxygen for your roots is good.

Thanks, I will take that advice.

Do you happen to know when I can start to determine the sex of the plants?

well on the guide it says after you switch the lights to 12on and 12off, they will show sex within the first 2 weeks

i was thinking about buying the AGpro 200 and was wondering if that would be good to start growing with?

well you can make your own system for a lil cheaper but if your looking for a learning tool and somthing you can throw into a closet the AG is for you, i mean all you got to do is research about growing and set it all up and everything should be fine, no matter you choose jumping into somthing with out knowing what your doing is not a good idea,

Yea i like it cause of its convenience, i dont have time to tweak things here and there all the time with a Do It Yourself project, mine was free, but i had to order the lights, nutrients, and everything else

Here is the power cord you need to hook the AG light up to a separate timer for anyone who is wondering what it looks like. The figure 8 plug side plugs into the AG light, then obviously the other end goes into your timer.

radioshack sells them in stores but you can also order them online if you don't have one close to you.
Radio Shack link to the cord

You DONT want the polarized one, that won't fit, the polarized one has 2 different sized prongs and it only fits in one way. (Square tip on one side of the figure 8 plug)

I picked one up and added it to the AG. Should I leave it on 24/7? Seems like lot of oxygen for the small plants :-)

I wouldn t think the extra pump would matter too much, the oxegen is going to bubble out of the waters surface anyways. I would'nt think you would need this extra bubbler unless your aerogardens airstone is clogged. I got the deluxe model with three lights and 24 hr mode. Middies and yard harvested strawberries. I will be making 0 mods. Kinda defeats the porpose of the experiment.

I suppose if you were the first person doing a controlled AG experiment it would be okay to not mod anything, but if you want dank bud, you can do the mods that the people who are HARVESTING it have done. =]

Also, its pumping Oxygen from outside and putting it inside the res.

That is always good, and that would make a substantial difference.

i keep reading about how you need to get a airstone with the aerogardens but i dont get why. i was wondering if someone could explain what it is used for or give me a link to a thread that explains it. thanks

It gives the plants more oxygen. i dont have one yet, but my plants would be so much better if i had one, trust me, you want to get one, the difference in growth is stunning, alot of people said they had plants that grew faster because it was under most of the bubbles,so they added some longer ones to reach all of the AG, plus it feeds the roots the nutreietns with a nice mist, its all benificial man

I meant to take a pic of my res with the 10" airstone in it earlier but I was too stoned and forgot. I will try to take pics next time I clean out my res or feel like checking my roots out.

I bought two extra clamp-on type grow lights to supplement the AG lighting for the next, flowering stage.
Question, should I hang these NEXT to the AG, one on each side, at somewhat of an angle? Or just straight overhead?
