been having problems with my cloning ...not sure why but i am ....i put my clones in the pacman sponges and somtimes with in 24 hours there all dead or willted or there on there way to the grave........anyways so im getting pissed grrrr hahaha cant even get my clones to root grrr........well i tired a DWC for my cloner and like i said been having problems so i am going to make a aero cloner i got a 2 gallon buccket i want to build into a aero cloner.....i have everything i believe just going to take apart my DWC has air pumps air stones water heater and 6 net pots with 6 pacman sponges in them ...... my question is do i still need a dome over the clones in a aero cloner ??? just trying to figure out a setup that works for me taking clones thanks for any help you can give .....keep up the growing :bigjoint:
you always needa dome when cloning, thats probably why they didnt root in the AG

I bought two extra clamp-on type grow lights to supplement the AG lighting for the next, flowering stage.
Question, should I hang these NEXT to the AG, one on each side, at somewhat of an angle? Or just straight overhead?
If you can hang them over head, i hae most of mine above the plants, but i also got some side lighting,

Yea thats weird, what AG do you have? this one guy glass freak was cloning with the AG 3 pod, and he used a ice bucket from a hotel, and his rooted, i dont think it needs to be air tight, but it cant really have any leaks, you want alot of humidity in the dome, and the light shouldnt be directly above the plants, did you mist them down? you got rooting gel right?

yea i misted them and the dome three times a day i learned now i cut the stems up the middle and shave them a little on the sides dip them in the rooting gel ...... like i was saying i am going to build a aero cloner today with a 2 gallon bucket ...but i dont have a round dome yet for it....i am building a 6 site aero cloner and hope this is going to work better then my DWC .......just got everything going mothers good rooms are good just cant get my clones to last more then 5 days

Alright well someone sent me a PM asking how I got my 10" airstone to fit, so I thought I'd post it here too.

I made this simple diagram that kind of shows how its in there, I will post some photos of it next time I clean my res out.

My pump hose is fed up through one of the grow holes into a piece of cardboard with a circular hole cut in it to securely fasten the tubing.

The key is to angle the suction clips on the part of the ag thats kind of rounded, as long as they clip onto the airstone and secure it thats fine.

You can also take this idea even further and put some smaller airstones vertically on the sides, which I might try to do sometime.

does it have to be suctioned down? I did the same with the 10" airstone I bought, but just have it in like yours, and not suctioned down, and also the hose from the pump just goes in through the watering lid, but of course, it is them open a crack. BTW, thanks for the drawing.

Well when mine wasn't suctioned down it was just floating around in the water with half of it not even doing anything just spraying downward, I mean it works that way just not very efficiently, its better than a one bubble airstone that way though.

You should try to suction it down if you can.

No problem, wish I had pics instead of ms paint drawings, lol.

Should I always keep the water level at just above the full mark, or just fill it that high each week when I change the water?
Thanks again.

I always top mine off when I see that its below the fill to here marker.

I just flush my entire res out every week when I change the water.

Then add nutes.

How do you flush out the res without moving the plants around? I will be puting the germinated seeds in tommorow and will need to do this in a week or so. Also do i need to put a tablet in when I first start them or just water?

Just water for the first two weeks.

What I usually do is take the pump out of the res, and set it down somewhere on a countertop at an angle where the roots can just dangle, leave the pods in the top piece.

The mspaint picture might demonstrate this a little bit better, but here is where my airstone is. (cleaned out my res today)

You have to angle the pump into it when you put the pump back on though.

Thanks, I was looking around for a thread with the answer to this, but hadn't found it yet. Yet again the AG is appearing to be so easy, which is what I need in order to be physically able to garden. :D

Thanks lurkmaster. My babys are just starting to sprout their first leaves I can see how the ag works faster than normal soil growing. I will take some pics later when they pop out the top of the pods.

I have a AG and my main root on one of my new 3 day old plants is brown at the end and shorter than my other one that was 3 days old. I didn't know you needed to change the water every week so I did that today but I used tap water that was room temp. I also didn't know that I didn't need to add nutes to it until 2 weeks. I added it in as soon as I got the AG. I did have a plant before this one and my cat kinda ate it. It was 5 days old. I was pissed to say the least. It got into my walk in closet where I have the AG. I am starting over now but this root looks diff than the other one. It did have green stuff that I think was mold that I read somewhere that you need peroxide and a Q- tip to clean the top off and I did. Then the root got shorter and got brown overnight. I am worried. Any tips? Also I have the AG with 7 port thingys and only two lights. I would like 2-3 plants. Is it enouph light for 2-3? I do have Aluminum foil 4 peices on each side of the AG to get better light so my other seeds can sprout. I did have a fan on the little 3 day old plant that is growing I had it on it overnight one night. I have been keeping it off now and the aluminum foil covering the AG to help sprout the seeds. Also do I need to spray my one plant with water and mist it? I have it on 24/0 now until my seeds sprout. Thanks for reading this. Thanks for the help everyone :) Sorry this was so long wanted you to know how I had it set up and making sure I can't change anything to help them grow into some good smoke. TY again.

Thats awsome. Where did you get a airstone like that? How much does one cost?
