you can tell by the title im new to hydroponics, from wot im reading more air is better so im buying a more then capable air compresser
but should i be dedicating an air out let for each plant or would one airstone between 2 plants surfice? [ i want to put 4 for 6 plants spread equaly]

Gas diffusion/pressure laws don't work like you think... It's a system/probability/pressures thing. When you disturb the surface of the water, more air can be held by the system. So in reality, you need to cause very little water action to raise the d.o. to acceptable levels for the plant to 'breathe'. To get more available oxygen you must move up from a water culture to aeroponics.

Don't even use an air stone, they clog in nutrient rich solution, and the diffusion action isn't creating the huge amount of surface area you would need to boost the d.o. content; Temperature is the way more active variable in this respect, and hotter water will have much less oxygen. Just fix the air line somehow to the bottom of your tub. 1 is enough action for any container from an ok air pump; I just wouldn't go so far as to call those little aquarium things compressors.

great info thxs man, wot is d.o. an abbreviation of? aeroponics eh? FFS i just spent 2 days solid on dwc putting together scraps of info which i then conveyed to my brother on a peice of paper in about 25 seconds
when some one who knos wot there talking about advises me on things i will usualy follow instructions, so with aeroponics how much faster is growth? can any body send me a link where it can be explained for me, i would be very grateful.
my understanding of aeroponics [the fundamentals] is it has the same size bowl/tank/res for the roots as dwc typicaly would but a water pump is used instead of an air pump and this water is pumped from a reservoir to equaly dispersed sprayers [or w/e there called] wich spin under pressure like sprinklers in a garden would, the water pump is connected to a timer [i read somewhere] so its given time to breath im geusing the longer you can bare to go with out spraying is best as roots will stretch?? you would need a pump to take water back to the main res? or does ur main res have to be air tite so capillary action brings water back in? <-- bs
in dwc the bubbles move the roots around that are at the botom of the pot but in aero would nt there just pile up and rot? or do u have to put a net inside ur pot to carry the bulk of the roots but let fresh water flow thru it, probably dum questions any links or advice on the bs iv been spouting would be very appreciated, thxs

don't go aeroponic especially that your new to hydro, it's high maintenance easy to mess up system. you need to put enough airstones so that the surface of water lookis like it's boiling.
