Am i germinating right?

I have just bought 11 ak47 seeds and have followed the paper towel instructions from the "how to grow weed" thread, i have used a few Mac d's napkins, wet them a little and wrapped, and put the wrap in a glass with a tiny amount of water with a bit of the wrap submerged to act as a wick

Will this be ok, as the napkin did seem a little sodden

I've never heard of that method, but I'm having a hell of a time germinating my seeds so don't take my advice. I'm curious to know if and how it works though!

the paper towel method does work but you run the risk of hurting tha tap root putting it in to your medium.I always either put my seeds in presoaked jiffy pellets or rockwool cubs then i dont run the risk of hurting my littel babies .

Now see, that kinda sounds like what I did in my first grow with my AeroGarden. I just took the tomatoe seeds out of the little sponge thingy that comes with the AG tomatoe kit, put 3 seeds in each sponge, put them into the grower along with the starter nutrients and in 2 days I had 3 sprouts. Didn't even have to transplant them. Then when the others sprouted, I pulled them out (they came out easy) and stuck them into some pods I had from before that were kind of broke-in because I had grown herbs in them. It worked perfect, had no problems and the grow went great until I got root rot because I had to leave the whole setup for an extended period of time.

The paper towel method has never worked for me. I've gone through like 20 seeds trying to do it that way.

Hmmm, I'll have to check them out. I wonder if the jiffy plugs would then fit into the AeroGarden pod holder and I could just take it from there.

So are these in the gardening section of Walmart?

Well i have ditched the napkin as it was soaked, im using a cloth meterial instead, fingers crossed.

Hey Do you have any tupperware containers? or evan a CD case.

Just wet a normal household paper towel fold it in half, than in half again.
Either drip or spray some water on it open 1 fold, place the seeds and then fold it back over close the lid on the tupperware or cd case and place it on your cable box, PC, Ballast, Somewhere the temperatures are about 80ºF Give it 24 hrs you should see the seeds pop.

ok guys i just now took these pics to show u that germing seeds like this DOES work.i use toilet paper then i wet the toilet paper how ever u want long as its nice and wet then i put it in my dresser droor and shut it i look at it everyday to make sure its wet every noww and then i open it to see if sprouted yet.
alot of times it sprout with in 2 days soe times less.
when transplantig to soil just lift the toilet paper over the hole in the soil and drop it in.thats if ur scared to touch the seed or use some tweezers heres some pics and my outcome of it.

Yup, you're fine (don't forget to keep em warm). After a bunch of experiences messing this up I've realized that a bit of warmth really makes a difference. In the future take everyones advice and germ in plugs under a humidity dome and with a heat source under (heat mat or I've even used my direct TV reciever). works like a charm and you won't have to worry much. You can then take the plug and stick it into anything. I'm happier with this system. GOOOOOD LUCK THOUGH

Thanks i have sat the glass on top of my hood which is warm 12 hours a day, that should be ok yes (its a hood with cfl's in)

I always go with the wet paper towel method... and it has never failed.

I'm not saying it doesn't work. I'm sure it works great! I'm just too stupid or too impatient, or can't get the temp right or something for it to work for me.

I applaud all of you that can get it done that way, it seems to be the easist way to do it. I wish I could figure it out!

to be honest with u and everyone i dont really think heat has super alot to do with it germing.i have not heat in my room cuase it dont work in hereand all i do is put it in toilet paper and wet it and put it in my dresser droor and shut the droor.then i look at it to make sure its still wet the next day and thats it like 1 or 2 days its done and cracked open thats quick

just drop ur seeds in a cup with water and they will germinate, that worked for me and I got 100% of my seeds to germinate by doing this(took maybe 4 days)

yup i tried that too
but with the toilet paper it germd quicker for me

i did this a few days ago and it worked for me. 3 out of 4 seeds poped

there u go more proof for these people
it works everytime for and is so easy just keep wet
to me it dont matter if place is hot or cold it just works
i even had it in a window cell where the light was hiting it and it worked
