Amaximus' Half-Assed CFL/LED First Grow™

Oh yeah... Noise issues aside I think I've got the hps system as fine tuned as I'm gonna get it at this point.

On hot days I've got the A/C on for myself so the tent benefits from this and ranges from 85-89 degrees F, maybe a 90 or 91 spike here and there. Nighttime can be anywhere from 72-79.

On cool days the A/C is off so the tent is on it's own. Temps are about the same. Maybe two or three degrees higher all around than with the A/C on hot days. Nighttime temps are even cooler with windows open and fresh sea air. Ahhhh!

After tomorrow I think we're due for at least five days of around 78-80 degree weather. I cannot wait!

Oh YES!!! 78-80 degrees here is like a "cold front"... NOT a cold weather person per se', but growing in the summer can make me one!

You aint kidding! Heh. A real cold front moved in today and is parking its ass here for the next five or six days so temps are even lower. It's 67* outside right now. Tents are in the low/mid 70's! Bring on the winter!

I've got a bunch of shit germing/vegging right now but I'm having some problems getting them going full throttle.

I've had a nasty streak of dud seeds/bad seedlings lately. Every seed I've been using has been freebies from various seedbanks that I have accumulated over the past year so I'm wondering if that has something to do with it or if the seeds somehow got fucked during storage. So right now I've just been germing, planting, germing, planting trying to build a group of plants I want to concentrate on.

As of right now I've got G13 Labs Sour Jack, OG 13, White Widow & Delicious Seeds La Musa sprouting. And I tossed a World of Seeds Afghan Kush Ryder auto into the veg tent so there is always something going in there. I've got two more white widow germing as well in case something needs to be replaced.

I had so many other interesting strains I wanted to try but eight seeds before this did not make it.

Ho hum...

Also have a pack of Anesthesia from Sannies sitting here in case I want to scrap it all and just run that strain.

lol. With the the luck I'm having with seeds right now that may happen sooner than you think... I'm out of photoperiod seeds other than the anesthesia so if these little bitches don't start taking root I'll have no choice but to scrap them... if I do that I'm gonna take it a step further and go coco I think...

never heard of the strain anesthesia so I looked it up...and yes...you should absolutely grow this so me and psuagro and watch. haha but only if you need to scrap the others. It just looks amazing.

Hey everyone... Just wanted to toss up some pictures of what I have vegging right now.

The party cup girls are using the led on 12/12 so since the "flower" tent is empty I tossed a mh bulb in there and dialed it down to 300watts for these guys. I'll be starting another journal soon, maybe two, but I wanted to give a little preview... Nothing too spectacular. Using up all the freebies I have...


G13 White Widow - 36 days - Had big time problems with this little bitch. Small, runty... Pretty much using this one for practice. Probably gonna toss this one unless space is not an issue.


WoS Afghan Kush Ryder auto- 26 days - The tent looked empty. Ok, I've got like 30+ auto seeds.... Gotta start using them sooner or later...


Delicious Seeds La Musa - 25 days - Triple topped this morning. Going to mainline this bitch, Maybe 16 donkey dicks in a 7G or 10G smart pot. (Saved some clippings)


G13 OG13 - 25 days - Same plans with this one as the La Musa; Single topped this morning. (Saved some clippings)


G13 Sour Jack - 20 days - Started giving nutes to this one too early. Burned the fuck out of her. I also plan to mainline this one. Only 4-8 tops though. Probably a 3G smart pot eventually.


More G13 White Widows - 5 days - I only had two seeds left and I was having so many problems germing and sprouting previous seeds I decided what the hell. I'll probably top for 4 colas and toss them in 3G smart pots. I'm open to suggestions if anyone wants me to experiment a bit. heh.




TL;DR - I know... I planted stuff. Stuff happened. New journals soon. Stay tuned...

have you considered hydro? and maybe hps light instead? I'm following you from a different thread. I see you only averaged 15.5 gram per plant. I just finished my grow of LH and averaged 272 grams per plant. I attached a few photos of mine at week 5 of flower, I cant find more recent photos..

Hey Everyone!

I'm sorry that I haven't been keeping everyone updated on how my family and I are doing but it has been an extremely hectic 4 months and I only got a computer recently (Like, TODAY! heh, Thanks CENSORED) and trying to post or anything on a phone just plain sucks so I opted to go silent until I was able to participate easier... That time is NOW.

Anyway, I just wanted to drop in an let everyone know that I am, finally, doing "ok". We moved back into our house about two weeks ago and Ive been busy doing electric, plumbing, heating, insulation, sheetrock etc etc. It's a slow process, and one made even slower now that we have to live where we work. Moving/covering furniture on a daily basis to work sucks but, Hey, Ya gotta rebuild right?

Thanks to everyone for their kind words and offers. I was going to reply to everyone individually but being as most PM's were from months back I decided I'd address everyone here.

Days before we had HEAT, HOT WATER and ELECTRICITY: 49 (There are still people doing without these basics, I'm lucky enough that I fixed all mine on my own)
Total $$$ received from the government: $3000 - Like, Really. No comment.

Anyway, Again, It is time to rebuild and get shit going again. I leave you all with some random shots that I've taken over the past few months since Sandy tried to assrape my life.




^^^Almost everything (Except the TV and a few other minor things) were purchased by others and donated to us. Yup. That's how bad it has been/is. You can see progress being made from the start to the end photos, But those end photos are from just a few days ago. This is how we are currently living. And TBH, I'm grateful. It was much worse for too long.

Anyway, again, again... Enough of this sad bullshit. Let's talk GREEN.

Before Sandy hit I was prepping for my next grow which was going to be coco based with botanicaire coco nutes. All new for me being a soil guy. I had the coco, Nutes, my old small grow tent and a half broke BS180 put away in my attic and in closets that were high enough to be spared, somewhat.

I've known I had these supplies but I couldnt bring myself to start growing. I was just too busy. Well I finally got the itch a few days ago and decided to germ some autos that survived the flood (Hooray air tight baggies!); The first seed took too long for my liking and I germed a second. Of course they both threw tappers out so I ended up planting them both, It's a sad, small grow, But I'm excited. At least I'm back in the game until I have disposable cash to get supplies for a real grow.

I wont be running a journal for this grow for obvious reasons but I will post photos from time to time. Like Now:



Pakistan Kush Ryder Auto's in a tiny 18x18x36 tent with a BS180 with half the diodes burned out supplemented with 2x 45w 6500k CFL's. I told you this grow was welfare. ha!

I've babbled enough. That's a brief summary of what's going on. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask away. It's been so long I just dont even know where to begin.

Hey A, Great to have ya back ! Sounds like it's a diode, (or diodes), that are burned out or a driver is blown, (doubtful), on the 180. Could be a loose wire even. There's a simple way to tell if it's the driver, tougher for wires and diodes. PM me if interested and it's good to hear you and yours are OK.

Hey curly, Thanks. Good to hear from you, brother... Yeah, You've got to keep a good perspective on things when shit like this happens. I went through my fair share of rage during the past few months but it was pointless. I decided to just channel it into rebuilding and using my rage for good! lol. I'm ecstatic to be growing again. I wanted to start sooner but with no heat it was a no go. I actually started growing cilantro, chives and basil in party cups to hold me over. hehe.

Psuagro, Brother-man, Thanks! Yeah, I figured I'd make a small mention regarding how the government helped me out, or didn't in this case. But I'm with you, If I get too much into it I just start to rage. Fuck them, Who needs them. I'll take care of myself. heh.

How did your last hans panel grow fair? As soon as I get time I'll have to go through all the old threads and get myself updated...

Fran! Buddy! You're back! Last time I was active you had been MIA for a while. Glad to hear from you. I'm not sure if it is a diode, driver or a loose wire. I've been meaning to open it up and take a look but I just haven't had time yet. Funny thing is that it was 100% fine when I put it away so I'm hoping it's just a loose wire. As soon as I know more I'll let you know and maybe PM you regarding any fixes beyond my expertise.

That is about the extent of the equipment I was able to save. I have a bunch of smart pots as well and I do have my large tent but I'm unsure of its condition. I waited 3 days or so before originally addressing the situation and washing it off and putting it away. I fear the salt water may have taken its toll on it. I also dont know if anything punctured it anywhere. The place was destroyed at the time. I'll have to give it a look over... But yeah, This is all I have. Back to CFL's. Ugh.
