Amazon 600 watt system 130.00, anyone try this?

600 is often stated as the highest efficiency, most bang for the buck, whatever.

Only thing I see missing here is a coolable hood or tube. For another $20 I would get this. If you gotta extract heat your going to end up buying a hood or a tube.

I got this one and like it fine. - http://www.amazon.com/Apollo-Horticulture-GLK600CT24E-Digital-Dimmable/dp/B00521B894/ref=sr_1_4?s=lawn-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1368885474&sr=1-4&keywords=600w+hps+grow+light+system

Seems like a good deal to me, the one at Amazon, load of 5star ratings as well.

Someone told me 600 watts are better than the 1000 watt units
Well... 'better'...

Exactly, per watt. But that also depends on the brand/type of bulb. A quality 600watt growlight hps already outputs 10% more lumen and a more complete spectrum than a cheap brand streetlight hps. Also depends on the space. On 6x6" for example a quality 1000 watt Gavita pro gives more yield 'per watt' than a 600watt on 4x4, but needing more space isn't necessarily efficient either. So yeah, it depends.

I am currently digging through Ballast to replace my iPower that went down. 3 months and it died, I suggest another company. Im thinking Quantam or Apollo.

I had my apollo HPS go out after about 500 hours, gave the company a call. They were able to look up my order on amazon and shipped a new one out to me immediately. My point being, they do seem to have decent customer service, maybe not top shelf product, but they took care of me.

hey who.....

I recently bought a Quantum 600 which can run at 50%,75% or 100% and can use MH or HPS bulbs, it's quiet with minimal heat output....I like it

I bought the same system..I tend to be a brand name person...but after doing the math on my start-up with top of the line(or what people call top of the line) stuff...I realized I could not afford the hydro store or top of the line. I settled on top of the line nutrients(Hesi) starter kit $100, Pro-Mix HP soilless with some perlite thrown in, my trusty ppm and ph pen( i heard about measuring run off and all that..I just test what i put in every time ppm varies as they age...ph 6.2-6.5 never even needed the ph up and down i bought...the HESI nutrients hit it to a perfect 6.2-6.5 every time. Well worth the dough.

NOW..back to the system..I bought the same one with a 6 inch panel-cool tube thingee and hooked it up to a 6 inch exhaust vent running into my attic with an I power filter(just installed in Bloom) 70 bucks.

My plants are beautiful! 2 weeks into bloom, buds EVERYWHERE. ^ plants under 600 watts in a 3.5 x 4 ft space 8 ft high. The lights have never once shut off, or had a problem....I got the whole kit with the hps AND mh bulb, ratchet hangers, etc.. IT IS AWESOME! I think I paid 219 with free shipping! Price the stuff separately or through a hydro store..fuckin joke. 100 bulbs in the hydro store huh...My I power bulb for about 15 in the kit is producing buds in 2 week bloom that rival many of these so called pot gurus on here.

Start with the right stuff, and upgrade as you go. Every week or month I get paid I get something new for the next round.

SO, with that said...order the I power stuff, even if your ballast or light only lasts 2 harvests, replacing a 600 I power ballast is like a !00 bucks! Ill order a new one every year.

4x4 usually for 600, 5x5 for 1000 is a general guideline. myself i would go ahead and go with the 1k so you dont think about upgrading just adding more :) as long as heats not an issue.

i have an ipower 600w dimmable. good lamp, got it back in december. like 2 weeks ago the ballast blew n i called ipower n they had great customer service, they come with a 2 yr warranty so i had a new one shipped to me in no time. the only other light i owned was a 150w sun system so i dont have much of a comparison but i would deff buy again

I also run the Apollo 600w air cooled tune XL hood mh/hps dimmable system in both my veg and flower tent. highly recommend for an entry level system. like said above, ill also be upgrading to a higher quality bulb after a certain amount of hours per bulb. my kits came with a hps and mh bulb in each kit (2 bulbs per kit).
