hey all. im 4 days into flowering with my master kush, and i was wondering if flushing even though i have nice healthy plants is a good thing, so as not to get build up later on in the grow. any and all thoughts on flushing would be great

There are a couple threads every week on the subject. Much dispute meaning either way works. I go the easy way and flush only once at the 7th week of flower. I think what works for the individual is dependent (probably) on the nutes they use.

If you use House & Garden nutrients they are non-salt based unlike most other companies. This means no flushing, even up to harvest if you so choose. Their site specifically says you don't need to flush before harvest. I personally would only flush if my plants where showing ill signs from over-fertilizing.

I would suggest checking the PPM of the run off on the next watering. I always find the mid grow flush is necessary.....actually I do more then one flush during flower and my grows are much better now.

I don't necessarily do a complete flush, but I always work in a one or two straight pH adjusted waterings before feeding again.

Here we go turning something as simple as growing a plant into some kind of nuclear science project. If the plant is healthy leave it alone.

No, but sometimes a mid shit flush is REALLY called for.

*nice healthy plants* don't need to be fixed or flushed.

I run a Waterfarm hydro system, so it might be a bit different for you.

However, personally, I flush each and every week for one day and then fill the next concentration of nutrients for the week. This ensures that mold and root rot don't occur, and also that the plants get some fresh water with such high concentrations of nutrients.

I noticed that when I did not flush each week the plants looked stressed and worn.

Just my opinion

You didn't just say that.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!

to the original poster. flushing wont hurt, it is Prevenative maintenace for people using salt based fertilizers. prevenative meaning your are doing maintanance to prevent issues from occuring(salt buildup and nutrient lockout)

its like dusting your computer, or doing a oil change, yes the car or PC will run fine without doing it but theres a chance later down the road that the buildup of sludge/dust is going to impact you machine (or salts and your plant)

you may go the entire grow harvest and say flushing is a waste of time, then 2 grows later you will issues, then you will say "well i guess its not a bad idea"

my personal opinion, its a good idea to do a good flush every 4 weeks after starting you nutrient regiment. but thats my opinion. theres a good chance you will be fine and it wornt effect you, theres a good chance it will. I will add 2 things

1) better safe than sorry
2) once you notice a lockout (if it happens) and fix it your plants are going to look like shitballs
