yeah get some peters ferts or shultz seem to be the best for soil. when i do soil i even add a catfish about 2 ft under the plant too it keeps nutrients up there where they need to be

it depends on your soil, some mixes have time-released nitrogen or other nutes in them but they are not the best for mj plants. if you want soil with nutes in it already I suggest getting FoxFarm OceanForest soil, it's 100% organic and contains alaskan crab meal, bat guano, earthworm castings, and all that good stuff. You should still get some good organic nutes though if you want a decent harvest like jonny said

Necessary, no, but you would be better off using something even if it was some cheap fert from home depot or where ever.

Good luck :peace:

In just a few words yes it is possible, but you must start with a rich well balanced organic soil that is already loaded with all the micro organisms and nutes the plant will need. This will be hard to do in a container, also your plants will be depleting the nutes in your soil as they grow. My suggestion with that being said is start with a good organic soil, read Making Tea is Ezy by Ohsogreen. Read the entire thread on organic teas, it is a very imformative read. I personally start with my soil that has been made by myself and then only use manure teas throughout the grow to replenish and feed the soil. The key to the organic grow is feeding the soil and not the plant directly. This will make a strong healthy plant resistent to most evils in a grow and give you a smooth tasting product at the end. I hope this helps answer your question. Good Luck and please start a grow journal when you start so we can all follow your progress.:joint::mrgreen:

Fox Farm Ocean Forest holds about 2 months worth of nutes. So lets say you give your plant a 2 month veg in a 3 gallon pot (start small and move up to it), then transplant into a 5 gallon with all new soil, except around root ball. Then wait a week and flower. You might be ok.

Perlite is generally a good idea.

Just don't put a catfish in the bottom of the pot, the perlite won't solve your drainage problem then. :hump:

Catfish, That's some funny shit.
Try adding the fish to a compost heap but not under the fish.
What , I use to LOL
And yes perlite is good idea if you don't buy a high grade soil.
Good luck and can't wait for your grow.
