Area 51

I would run 6 1000w raptors in the 10x10. Was going to try to get away with 9 Area 51s. And Greengenes, Jeff did sound like a good guy when I spoke with him on the phone... I don't want to trash the guy or his company - I just wan to buy some lights :(
I understand where you coming from, you just need/want lights. Hopefully things will get settled soon.

It's about 2-4XGS's:1 1000hps. 9XGS's probably won't live up to 6Khps, but should hang with 4Khps. 1Kraptors can handle 5x5each...so your tying to get a away with low end LED or high end HPS...ideally you would want to do the opposite, but I understand the price issues of setting up a bigger room.

Not a word from Area 51, I'm off to get my Raptors today.. what a disappointment.
That's odd and strange surprised you didn't hear nothing from area 51. I was exchanging emails a few days ago and I got several replies within a hour so I know he responds to the emails when he has a chance. Maybe you are right and he doesn't want or have the lights to give you the discount you wanted. I'm sure if you were buying those lights full price they would've been sold.

But like green genes pointed out the amount of lights you were trying to get to replace the 1000 hps would not live up to the hps so that big a room I would stick with the hps systems.

Yea, wyteberrywidow, that's all I can think of.. he was going to give them to me for $400 each if I took 9 - he would make a lot more full pricing other people. I was eventually going to get 3 more to have 12 in the 10x10. I was trying to avoid all the cooling issues that go along with the HPS. I have talked to a million people over the last month while trying to get these and they all tell me not to go with LED anyway - divine intervention maybe?

lol Not sure what kind of business he would be running to turn down money (especially if he made a deal with you.) I'm sure it's email problems, which I have personally experienced.

fwiw Telling the forum what you guys worked out in private (9 at 400) is kinda... idk

yeah I agree, personally I try not to piss off people that know what I do and have my address :eyesmoke:

on the other hand I am sure glad to know I can get them for that price !

With that said it's cool for a small grow but man if you setup a big garden it adds up pretty fast at only 190 watts per light. I wish they would make bigger lights like my af600s, they are awesome. I know LEDs are supposed to save you on power but my priority is growing the highest quality meds.

if A51 is not getting back to you then hit up Apache or Hans (bonsai hero) .. or even induction ie Inda Gro. All are far better lighting choices than hps. and the hps will make you :wall: when you didn't get what you really wanted.

From what I've heard, EH has had some email issues with msg's either going to his spam folder (which he checks) or his response to your email going into your spam folder (which you have to check) :)

For the last time, THERE IS NO EMAIL PROBLEM!!!. Jeff and I emailed back and forth (and spoke on the phone) before Christmas several times, I just signed up with the website over the weekend and their welcome email came through just fine. An email address that is accepted does not switch to spam randomly There is another issue (I have no idea what it is) but I have to move on.

I made a purchase of 6 sgs 160 panels in the past and when I had emailed them affffter joining the website and registering to get a repeat customer discount on the new models I heard ZIPP , NADA, NOTHING ....lol so I can relate to being aggravated with area 51 and I still support they have a great product. But will go else where in the future unless they get another new light that REALLY grabs my attention

Not to be THAT guy... but Hyroot's right, stray off the beaten path...

Email Apache Tech, Call Inda Gro

You wont have to rig up loud fans, and if you do- you'll be able to turn them down.

I haven't quite figured out why yet, but AdvancedLED seems to have a slightly worse reputation around here than some of the other companies. Certainly not bad, but you don't see them thrown around like a51.

I've been happy with mine so far, but only had them a couple months now.

I have a 100watts light diamond series that I still use, I like it, it's a nice light, not 500$ nice though!! for myself I went with a51 because my first decent LEDs were from FERO which was based out of Victoria and wanted to support local company. FERO eventually helped a51 start before stopping selling grow lights themselves. When I ordered my first AF600 it was through FERO and eventually ordered 2 more from Jeff.

Had things happened differently, I might have ordered a big AdvanceLED fixture and be backing them up now, only it's not what happened and the only lighting company I feel safe to recommend is A51.

If u paid 500 for 100 watt ur either lying to make a51 seem superior or u got bopped over ur head. All these lights are high quality its just annoying u go from foeum to forum and nobody just buys lights tp see what's good they post to get deals on future lights its kinda corny imo. that being said a51 are very nice and my nxftled purchase will prob b from them all though i have 850 wattz going now which isn't insane amount or anything.

I bought something from them a few minutes ago. I hope I did anyway. Their "Contact" page acknowledged they were having email problems:

"We are having some issues with our email. If you do not hear back from us within 24 hours, please send another email. In the meantime we are setting up a new email host this week which hopefully eliminates any further communication problems."

I ordered one last week, registered on the site and everything was ok, even got confirmation mails but today I realized I didnt receive the tracking number. Wrote a mail back to Jeff and had my missing mail with the tracking number in the hour following my request.

When I tried to email them after ordering my panel, I had the exact same problem. I had used their contact form on the website and got no reply. Only after responding directly to my order confirmation email did I get a response fairly quickly. The XGS-190 is a fine piece of equipment, although louder and hotter than the claims on their website would have you believe. Also the owner of A51, EH is a bit pompous and doesn't seem to care what his customers think. I think he read too many Steve Jobs books.

DIY LED is going to be the future. As the parts keep coming down in price, you'll start to see more kits and how-tos popping up everywhere. My bet is that before long, you'll be able to easily make your own custom-made light that'll smoke anything on the market--and likely for less money too.

Remember when custom-building PCs went mainstream? Yeah... ...That.
