Asian Shrimp

Have you guys heard. 13 in long and carnivores. They eat everything including other shrimp and small lobsters. Will probably wipe out the U.S shrimping industry down south in 5 years! Get used to Tiger Shrimp. Those nice sweet pink babies we are used to? See ya! Wait till they get acclimated to the cold and head north. Just like the snakehead! He's moving north too!

I definitely prefer Gulf shrimp to tiger prawns, for both flavor and texture. My other worry is that farm-raised prawns eat the worst of the bad ... the stuff the pigs won't eat, or eat twice. (!) I wonder how farmed prawns score for heavy metals and persistent organics. cn

Once, thirty years ago, I saw U-2 shrimp at a butcher's. I bought two of those living baseball bats. They took a while to cook. Tasty but not tender. The huge sizes are a novelty item as far as I'm concerned. cn

Should probably develop a taste for Lion Fish while you are acclimating your palate to the delicate taste of Asian tiger shrimp... They've become quite the invasive species on the east coast also.

I agree but, live in the Northest where our cold water seafood is amongst the best on the planet! Our native shrimp are 5 times tastier than any tiger shrimp. What about lobster? They eat those too!
There is one invasive species that surpasses all others. Man. Let's shrimp-fish the shit out of the gulf and eat them to extinction. Beat them to the punch or cocktail sauce in this case. Catholics. You can do your part by eating Tiger Shrimp from the gulf every Friday. Let's get to it. ;)

The Gulf shrimping has rebounded way better than expected due to all the oil. Do you really think Asian shrimp belongs in our nets? Like i said, wait till they get acclimated to the cold water and they move up to Alakska in the next 20 years and decimate the halibut and king crab. Then what? A little late by then.
