Asking for Light Advice: 2 x 1000w Bestva LED lights, 4'x4' Tent Grow

Hey Folks,

I have a few questions about lights that I'm hoping may be answered here. I am using a 4'x4'x6' grow tent, and my plants are about 39 days into flowering. I started out with one Bestva 1000w LED (for 3 x White Widow Auto's, and 1 Early Miss Auto, *Promix HP*, 7 gallon pots) and used it from seedling well into veg. I then purchased a second Bestva 1000w LED and turned it on just before the plants started to flower.

I have had great results with the 2 x Bestva 1000W working together for this grow, but I'm only growing 4 plants in my 4x4 tent. Ideally I would like to purchase another light, or lights, and try for 9 smaller plants (in 5 gallon pots) in my 4'x4' tent, LST'd and scrog'd. Since I've had great results so far, I was thinking of buying a Bestva 2000W to add to the 2 x 1000w's I'm already using, because I can't seem to beat the price and I've already had good results with my first two lights, but I'm not sure if that's the right move. So, on to the questions!

1) Does anyone have experience using 2 x 1000W Bestva's in conjunction with a 2000w LED in a 4x4 tent?

2) Would I be wasting light by adding the 2000W into my tent due to light coverage potentially hitting the tent walls?

3) Would I be better off buying 2 more 1000w lights, for a total of 4 x 1000W's and hanging them in a square configuration slightly apart from each other?

4) Is Bestva a worth while brand to continue investing in for my DIY hobby grow, or am I better off investing in a more professional LED system?
(Keeping costs in mind....)

5) Am I foolish for thinking I can squeeze 9 plants into a 4x4 tent, would I be better off starting a second 4x4 tent?

6) I also have a 600w Philzon that I was planning to use for seedlings/clones in a 2'x2' tent, is that enough light for the first 3/4 weeks of a plants life?

In closing, I have scoured this site for years, and learned a lot reading about the experiences of others. I do know that most LED light wattage as advertised is "equivalent" wattage, and even then it's over exaggerated. Without diving too deep into those calculations, I'm wondering what would be an ideal LED light setup in a 4'x4' tent to maximize yield, while incorporating the lights I already have, without breaking my budget.

Any feedback, comments, experience, or links will be much appreciated!

Thanks RIU!

Lorenzo

You'd be better off buying 2 newer tech lights. Those use old slug diodes that are near 20 year old technology. Get some strips, boards, or at LEAST COBs.

Because this right here...

1. No experience with bestva but common sense would say 2x 1000w along side your current 2 would give more even light spread and intensity

2. Tent walls are reflective and those lights have lenses to concentrate the light.

3.Yes

4.Not really, no idea how long they will last, you get what you pay for. But your half way to lighting your space so what ya gona do?

5.You can fit 9 plants in a 4x4 with proper management.

6.I think that light is 120w ish, more than enough to start seedlings, possibly too much.

I will add you would be better off spending a bit more money on something that will last you longer and outperform what you already have.
Look into quantum board, strip builds, COBs. Avoid amazon.

Its your money though, im seeing prices of $109 for a 1000w bestva, https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/products/260w-qb-led-kit?variant=14546842681393
That would light up 2x4 of your 4x4. Its considerably better for many reasons.

Wish you luck with your grows which ever route you take.

Thanks for the reply Airwalker, I will look into your suggestions.

I've read a lot of reviews/critiques about the Bestva product line. But, for the price and some of the positive feedback I read, it was worth a shot to get going. I've actually had some pretty good results with 2 x 1000w Bestva's, but I know there must be better options out there, so I appreciate your feedback.

I will look into some strips, boards, and COBS!

Thanks! :)

Thanks for your detailed response, Webster! You actually answered every question haha.

Even after doing a lot of research, it seems like I should have spent more money on a better product from the get go. Oh well. I will heed both your and Airwalker's response and look into some better LED's.

Guess I could always start another 4x4 tent and use my 2 x 1000w's for veg, and a new quantum board/COB for flowering :bigjoint:

I appreciate the feedback and the well wishes. Thanks!

That is absolutely the best option for you. Those Bestva lights aren't completely useless by any means. Great units for Veg quite honestly. You can do very well under them for veg. And that's using both switches. The bloom switch should be flipped too since if not. It's probably pulling only half the wattage it already lacks. But 2 in a 4X4 will rock veg growth.

Ya... No. They quote their diodes as being High Powered G4 RGB White spectrum 0.5w SMDs.
They don't even tell you WTF is on the board. The pic they've got on the website looks like a Cree XPE but I'd be SURPRISED if that turned out to be true. I can't even tell what they use.
Bruh They show using the uv diodes from Cree I’m fucking dieing

So where's it say what the rest of the diodes are? For less than a grand, they ain't using UV diodes on those boards. Even if it was only 1 per, that's 8 total.
I mean I saw a uv chip im pretty sure its on cutter just a picture just was trying to point out no way they have them

Just dont. My head is starting to hurt just on mention. Surely noone here has missed that story, this years ledsection blockbuster.
Its xmas soon and already bad enough, this is the second thread where HGL has somehow creeped back to here.
For the record: avoid like the plague. This is the second time, third time shes mentioned she will rise from the dead like a zombie. Buy her lights and you will be denied entrance to heaven even if youre Mother Teresa.

Please, for the humanity.
