Thermal tape is garbage compared to actual thermal pads (like by a factor of ten). Prob ok for most strips but not for cobs.

I have been using the reels of cheap blue thermal adhesive from ebay and that stuff is like cement. I had to remove an EB strip from a 1"x24" extruded heatsink and let me tell you it was no easy task. I had to work a razor through it and it took at least 20 minutes. There is no way any of my strips are coming loose.

Thermal pad would be ideal of course as the tape is probably not wide enough to use without making the bond uneven. But as for strength yeah no problem imo.

I love the cheap blue tape from ebay on strips, but would never use it on cob's. I use Arctic MX-4 on cobs.
