You should give it a go, not real "hot" and has good Ca levels, you can mix it in to your soil or just top dress with it. It's somewhere between compost and a full on fertilizerThat's one I've never tried

You've been keen on it for a while hey.I stand by this stuff 100% mixed with local garden nursery compost I buy the trailer full, perlite and some very well aged chicken manure
This soil in this bag takes away so much liquid ferts you would need to add without it
All the years of growing I've never used anything better in the way of bagged soil.

I generally get 90% germination'Dunno what you're doing to get such a good germination rate? I've soaked a heap of seeds recently & whilst they popped initially, once I got them into Jiffy's, they just don't go anywhere.
I'm wondering whether we (in Aus.) get sent old seeds at the end of the Northern Hemisphere season. The only ones that have properly taken-off for me have been fresh home-made ones or ones swapped with other folks on here.
That or else I'm a complete plonker & doing something fundamentally wrong......
Yeah mate came across it about 5 yrs ago now any mix I make his is at least my base soil I work fromYou've been keen on it for a while hey.
Yep, my initial germination rate is similarly fine (ie. they pop), it's just once I transfer the ones that pop into Jiffy's, not a lot of them make it above the surface. I had 4/5 HSO Blue Dreams pop, but not one of the 4 showed their head above the surface.I generally get 90% germination
Yep, that's where I keep all my seeds & without a word of a lie, I've had seeds I picked-up in Zimbabwe in '92 crack after a 24hr soak. Just won't take-off from there.keep em in the fridge
Big arse swales. They will sort your problem outTerraces for sure or you can dig in some trenches/ mounds on the top side to divert the run off but I reckon terraces are better
Sounds like they are damping off which is caused by pathogensInitially completely soaked, then I squeeze as much out of them as I can to just leave them damp (ie. nothing more comes out before I transfer to them).
Maybe I'm putting them too deep (5mm-ish)?
I put the jiffy's into a humidome on top of a heat pad (at this time of year), insulated with a couple of layers of cardboard underneath soas not to "cook" them.
Some work fine with that regime, some don't.
Edit: Carolina Reapers, Naga Vipers & Habanero's are suffering the same fate right now.......
I never soak them or do the paper towel thing, just put em straight into cubes, this time i used coco in cups and into the humidome as u do with a heat mat, I just dont like fucking with them.Initially completely soaked, then I squeeze as much out of them as I can to just leave them damp (ie. nothing more comes out before I transfer to them).

Got swales in my future for sure, plus an extra dam, but wont have them in for this seasonBig arse swales. They will sort your problem out
I can see blisters and a sore back in your future lolGot swales in my future for sure, plus an extra dam, but wont have them in for this season
Either that or he’ll grow a little 1.7T excavator. Handy little machines they are.I can see blisters and a sore back in your future lol
Seeds don't need humidity like cuttings do, all high humidity will do is encourage fungal pathogens
Thanks, guys. I'm starting to see the error of my ways & will look further into it.Exactly, dry for seeds, wet for clones. Plus keep the light close for seedlings as more stretching makes them more susceptible to damping off
Handy for the dam but maybe a little bit less handy on a steep slope lolEither that or he’ll grow a little 1.7T excavator. Handy little machines they are.
We rip the one at work up and down the steep banks. Better than the posi on a slope.Handy for the dam but maybe a little bit less handy on a steep slope lol
