thats a nice setup/grow u got going there lad respect...there loking nice.....was gunna go for house and garden but went with advance hope my decision is rifght only time will tell..hows it going lad they look nice healthy...respect........
If I couldn't buy House and Garden nutrients, I would use Advance Nutrients. They're what I used before I fell in love with House and Garden. I just like the simplicity.
They have 5 bases to choose from depending on your medium;
Bio 1 Component made organically for organic growers (european for soil DOESN"T have to be organic)
Soil A&B/Aarde 1 Component soil made with synthetics for people who don't really care (that's the one I'm using)
Aqua Flakes A & B for hydroponics growers
Cocos A & B for people growing in coco

When you go into flower, you use the same base nutes your already using, except you just add the other additives (Multi Enzyme and Top Booster then later Shooting Powder) to make it "bloom" fertilizer. So simple. They only have 8 products + the base you choose in their whole line and 5 of them are AMAZING (not to mention I love the base nutes to). Here's the skinny:

All prices are from amazon. you can probably find it cheaper on ebay. The ones with a * next to it mean you don't need the big bottle of it and you can find a smaller, cheaper one that will last a long time too, if you want.

Bases:
1 Component Soil (synthetic)
$30

Bio 1 Component Soil (organic)
$30

Aqua Flakes A & B (hydro)
$30

Coco A & B
$30

Soil A & B
$30

Additives:
Multi Zen 1L*
$40

Bud XL 1L*
$55

Shooting Powder 5pk (enough for 2 cycles)
$60

Roots Excellurator 250mL
$61

Top Booster 1L*
$30

Algen Extract 250mL
$31

Drip Clean 250mL
$21

Magic Green 250mL
$26

So in total that $354 dollars for the whole line. Kinda pricey but not bad concidering the quality. If you can only buy one at time I suggest you buy them in this order;
Roots Excellurator - Great the whole life of the plant for explosive roots
Drip Clean - Never flush again and keeps your emitters clean (only .4 mL/gal!)
Algen Extract - Growth stimulator
Magic Green - Awesome foliar leaf hardener

Adding those to you current mix will make your plants happy.
Damn, they need to pay me for all the advertising I'm giving them lol. Enough of that.

Today was a busy day from the start. I transplanted the clones last night and watered them with base nutes mixed with b-1, algen extract and roots excellurator to help with the transplant shock. I guess I caught them right in time because the roots had just began to spin the pot. I took a knife to the roots to loosen the root ball and stop the spin. Needless to say, the plants were looking pretty sad after they were in their new pots. I was half an hour over my dark time so I didn't get to take a picture. The soil I used was my own mix of supersoil, mg potting soil, topsoil, garden lime, bat guano, peat moss, perlite, EWC and hydroton throughout for drainage.
I'm a little worried because I've never used this recipe before so I'm going in blind. I've got some experience with soil but still if I had more money I wouldn't be experimenting like this in the middle of the grow. I'm telling you all this because I want people to actually learn from this. So if things turn out good, that should say something about my skills but if I blow it, then I'll admit it and it'll prove I still need more practice. There was some weird mold/egg looking things on my roots that worried me a little. I scraped it off with a knife and I'm hoping it was nothing.

Today it was time to redesign the closet for a ScroG system. I also took care of the mess. I cleaned and disinfected the room and swept and mopped. I straightened the mylar so it wasn't wrinkled. I took down the light and dusted it. Took out the light bulb and cleaned it. Windex'd the mylar, lysol'd and rinsed and air dried everything.
dirtyboy02.jpgdirtyboy01.jpgdirtyboy03.jpg

After cleaning everything it was time to start building, I had a lot of design in my notebook that I spent hours on, but in the end I just used the closest things to me lol. Oh well. All my other ideas required money and I don't have extra to spend. So I went with a really simple idea. I dont have to move the plants and what doesn't make it into the tub, I'll clean by hand. I didn't have any wood to tack to the sides so I just used drywall anchors and hook screws.

:leaf::leaf::leaf:

I learned how to take close up shots on my cam today. Hers some pre-flowers showing this plant is dying to go into flower. I took the original clone when my plant was 6 weeks old so that makes this plant technically 3 months old.
preflo02.jpg

I'm already seeing some taco leafs on the top of two plants that happen to be the same strain. So I'm not sure yet if it's nute burn, pH or the soil. Keepin' an eye on it. Hopefully it's just fringe curl from heat.
wha02.jpgwha01.jpg

:leaf::leaf::leaf:

As for the next grow, the sprouts are looking good. I have them 800 ppm strength fertilizer whcich sounds like a lot I know but according to the reps at H&G "as long as you follow the ratios on the bottle there
s never a need for a ppm meter" so I'm taking their word for it. Another cool thing about H&G is that when you mix the nutes in the right order, the solution automatically buffers to 6.8'ish. Fantastic!
And they don't make a huge deal about it like advance nutrients does.

I'm gonna show you real fast how I fix sad wilted cuttings;

The first day is when a lot of clones die. Usually because of neglect. The first hours specifically are when I keep a real close eye on the cuts. What ever method I using be it hydro, soil, rapid rooters or rock wool, they all need to watched carefully the first few hours. I'm gonna assume you know how to clone. If not, this is how I learned, and if you follow directions, it's very effective---------------------> https://www.rollitup.org/subcools-old-school-organics/50073-cloning-subcool-redundant-explanation-pictures.html

After the cutting are in the medium, kick on the heat mat and start up the light if you haven't turned them on already. Light intensity is not important at this pint, in fact, it's more of a hindrance in some ways. Lights make heat and the don't like excessive heat. The heat mat is important despite what you may hear. The fact of the matter is, soil at a certain temperature encourages root growth. That's it. It's scientifical!
But if your plants experience a little heat stress like mine or wilt for just whatever, you can fix it. You shouldn't give up on a cutting till it's shriveled dry and dead.
Here are mine with heat stress.
sicko01.jpgsicko02.jpg

You can see they're all bent over and sad... All you have to do is shield them from the light and give them more humidity. So if you don't have a DIY propagator, then use Tupperware and a grocery bag misted on the inside and tied shut. Everything except the light and the heat mat is about $7 worht of supplies. You can get a mat/dome/propagator combo for like $30 @ the hydro store I think.

Tall dome and tray
http://www.amazon.com/Sunlight-Supply-Tall-Humidity-Dome/dp/B003B5RM5C

Heat mat
http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=propagator+with+heat+mat&hl=en&biw=1280&bih=552&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=5176566863977364186&sa=X&ei=zzbZTZzoJISisQPGtJCODA&ved=0CGAQ8wIwAzgK#

Combo
http://www.csnstores.com/Hydrofarm-Germination-Station-with-heat-Mat-72-Cell-2"-Dome-HYFCK64050-L3353-K~HYF1012.html?refid=FR49-HYF1012

So I misted them, put them in their prop and covered them with a windshield visor. Why not turn the light off you ask? Well, idk to tell you the truth...shut up.
I just like the heat that comes off it plus a little light still needs to get in there.
If things are bad or they're wilting due to stress, turn the heat mat off until you fix the problem then turn it back on, on low.
View attachment 1612438sicko03.jpg

And now they are health again. Notice how some of the stem are 's' shaped from wilting and recuperating.

Everything is healthy still. I went with information I got on the forums (not these) and grew the Lady Cane seedlings as hybids instead of sativas. I felt in gut that I should grow them like sativas because of their Super Silver Haze/Haze parentage, but stupid me took the advice and watered them the same strength I water my indica seedlings, and guess what, the burned a little. This kiddies is why you go with your experience and your gut before you listen to ramblings on the forums. If I had a serious problem, the forums would be the last place I'd go. Anyways they're doing ok still, just not 100%, but they'll bounce back fine. I flushed them and I'll be transplanting and moving to a more delicate feeding regiment with those.

My scrog is about 50% full and considering the size of the closet and the 2-2.5x stretch these plants do, I might start flowering them today. That's what you all want isn't it? Wanna see the bud show! I don't blame you...

The outdoor plants are already starting to smell fruity and delicious. It smells like some kind of kush but idk for sure what it is. I got these seeds out of a really good bad of pretendo (in case you haven't heard of it, "pretendo" is weed that is pretending to chronic. It's high grade mids). There was only five seeds in a pound of weed. I'm still hoping these do well so I can breed them with a Lady Cane x BB male and a Herijuana male so I can have my own strain. I'm going to back cross them also to get more seeds so that I can dig through the F2's and check out all the different phenos so that I can better customize my strain.

How are you getting on with the house and garden range? i'm just coming up to week 8 of flower using the nearly the whole range the only products i dont use are the drip clean, algen extract and magic green.

So the reason I haven't been posting pics lately is cause there hasn't really been too much going on, and the little that has is kind of hard to notice in the pictures, but yeah, there's actually been a lot of growth and tying goin' oowwn! These are pictures of the last few days.
net05.jpgnet04.jpgnet02.jpgnet01.jpgnet03.jpgnet06.jpg

Here they are this morning.
net13.jpgnet11.jpgnet09.jpgnet10.jpgnet08.jpgnet12.jpgnet07.jpg

They need to be tied down again after feeding them yesterday and growing overnight. After I jack some from the grocery store they'll get strapped down later lol. I'll tie them down for the next week or week and half. and then chop everything under the screen and let them grow unimpeded.

:leaf::leaf::leaf:

I decided to start a new project in the cycle.
I've seen a lot of people explain the hempy bucket but when ever I see the grow it looks sub par. The other day I was on the forums at MNS and I found out that "hempy" is a guy over there who introduced it. I guess he's been using it since the 80's, experimenting with different versions of his original idea, but eventually he said, he would always return to the original plans. It's wonderful in it's simplicity. It's a hole in a bucket. That's it.

When I heard hempy explain, I knew I had to try it. It's a passive hydroponic system so it requires a pH of 5.8-6.2. The medium is 4:1 mix of perlite to vermiculite, although I didn't have a lot of perlite on hand so I used some hydroton. My mix is more like 4:2:1 hydroton-perlite-vermiculite. I took some 1 gallon containers and melted a hole about 2 inches from the bottom about a half an inch round, but not before I covered them with mylar to protect the roots. They were clear containers. I used the two clones with the most root growth (picture later) and transplanted them in my makeshift hempy buckets and watered them with AN Iguana Juice, roots excellurator, algen extract, drip clean, b-1 and cal/mg.
hempy04.jpghempy01.jpghempy02.jpghempy03.jpg

:leaf::leaf::leaf:

The clones are looking lovely and will be ready to be transplanted soon. I just gotta dig the hole in the back yard ant build the shade.
clonely03.jpgclonely02.jpgclonely04.jpgclonely01.jpg

:leaf::leaf::leaf:

Finally, the educational portion of the segment lol. I wanted to show you the difference between a good ScroG and bad ScroG. I the first set of pictures, the grower spaced everything nicely and the plants grew to their full potential. The total weight from this grow was 450g off one 400 watt light. Over a gram per watt. This is what scrog is supposed to be like.
success01.jpgsuccess02.jpgsuccess03.jpgsuccess04.jpgsuccess05.jpgsuccess06.jpgsuccess07.jpgsuccess08.jpg

These next picture are by the same grower but he got a little over zealous and started with too many plants or vegged for too long. Either way, the space became too crowded and leaves from one plant blocked another and the buds weren't allowed to grow to their full potential. Some people say that you should never cut fan leaves because they're the reason buds get big in the first place, but this is good example of why that's not entirely true. This is how not to grow a scrog.
crowded01.jpgcrowdedharvest_day64_05.jpgcrowded_day37_03.jpgcrowded_day49_04.jpg

Even at the end, the buds were tiny because they couldn't get any light.

My grow is becoming a little crazy itself. There are tops everywhere and if the bud get as big as before, then I'm gonna have to cut some down.

:leaf::leaf::leaf:

My Sannie's batch is on a good path. The sativas are recovering well and the indicas are looking better than ever,but I'd be lying if I said they were 100%. I transplanted them a few days ago and they've already recovered from transplant shock and they're recovering nicely from the tap water and fertilizer burn.
san03.jpgsan01.jpgsan02.jpgsan04.jpgsan05.jpg

:leaf::leaf::leaf:

The outdoor girlies are looking sexy as usual ;P The are growing nicely and they seem to like my soil mix so...yeah. Not much to report there. I'll be cloning them for sex after I get some jiffy pots and make some starter soil.
outdo05.jpgoutdo01.jpgoutdo04.jpgoutdo03.jpgoutdo02.jpg

More picture tonight of the ScroG after I tie them down. Thanks.

I love it. I'm completely sold. I've used Fox Farm, Advance Nutrients and Humboldts Own and this is by far the easiest to use with the best results.

I started with canna then Hesi now the house and garden things are looking good so i might stick with it i used the aqua flakes in NFT which worked well thats why i've gone for the coco range like you've said before they are a bit more expensive but worth it.

You have good taste in nutrients. Probably some of the best nutes in the business you mentioned there. From what Ive heard Canna is H&G's main competition so they have a lot of similarities. Hesi is expensive but good from what I've heard and H&G, well, you know how I fell about them.

Isn't it amazing? I was almost nervous promising a product will work when I've never met you but only almost.
The difference is immediately noticeable after applying that stuff, that's what I like about it. Unlike other product where if nothing goes wrong you assume it's working, with MG, you can see the difference the next day. I'm still not sure how it works, but idk either.

I don't what your growing in but the next product I wanna try for immediate growth explosion is gonna be a root inoculation of bennie bacteria (I grow in soil). I've narrowed it down to Advance Nutrients' Voodoo Juice and Great White Shark. A lot of growers agree that Voodoo Juice is ne of the few AN products that's worth the money and GWS is supposed to be the bomb. Probably gonna just go with whatever's cheaper. The problem is that since I'm using synthetic fertilizers I'll have to inoculate the soil every week probably.

on your rooting the 2 i have tried that worked really well was rhizotonic by canna an wortel root stimulator by bac both produced nice big healthy root systems ,currently though i am using a product called rootgrow contains Mycorrhizal Fungi it takes about 3-4 weeks to get fully established but it supposed to grow secondry root system which helps in the uptake of more nutes you only have to use one application an its cheap http://www.rootgrow.co.uk/rootgrow_information.php?gclid=CMaK5Oj0jKkCFdFX4QodgWZ7jg here it is do not know if its in the states though

'preciate that ntd. You know what they say, "big roots, big harvest" and it's really true. I love this site, I really do. But there are a ton of beginners here that are stuck in their ways who refuse to change or learn anything new. The are so afraid to lose a crop or a little weight, they don't realize that if they did a little research and made improvements to their technique, they would actually harvest more. I'm not doggin beginners. I by all standards am a beginner, but I'm not a noob. Two different things I think. Noobs want everything handed to them.
Folks spend money on over-hyped nutrients and expensive additives to "increase yield" or "induce more bud sites" or "shorten flowering period" or to "make bud smell better" but if they spent the same time and money on the roots, their harvests would inherantly grow also. Man, when roots are healthy, omg weed grows so fucking fast it's truly mind-boggling.
